JOB DESCRIPTION
The Linux and Database Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing Linux‑based systems and enterprise databases across production and non‑production environments. This role includes monitoring server performance, ensuring system availability, performing database tuning, and maintaining secure, reliable infrastructure operations.
Key responsibilities include installing, configuring, and updating Linux systems and database applications; troubleshooting issues; analyzing system logs; and implementing cybersecurity measures such as access control, backup procedures, and recovery strategies. The administrator will configure servers and databases, design and maintain database structures across multiple platforms, preserve data integrity, and optimize database access and resource allocation for performance.
The role also involves developing and implementing database backup and recovery strategies, configuring database parameters, and ensuring reliable restore processes. Collaboration is essential, requiring close work with developers, technical managers, and analysts to support new systems and services. Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to develop solutions that improve system efficiency are critical.
This position requires experience with Linux and Unix‑based systems, SQL and major database platforms, shell scripting, and automation tools. A background in database administration, system performance tuning, and secure infrastructure management is essential.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Required education, skills, and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or engineering plus 4+ years of related experience.
- Relevant database administration certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional or Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate.
- Minimum 3 years as Linux and database administrator.
- Strong Linux/Unix skills; Microsoft OS knowledge is a plus.
- SQL proficiency including MS SQL, Oracle Database, Hadoop, or PostgreSQL.
- T-SQL and PL/SQL knowledge is a plus.
- Linux command-line proficiency.
- Shell scripting and automation tools such as Python, Perl, and Bash.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
