We’re looking for a driven, multilingual professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and is excited to contribute to a collaborative, multicultural team.

As a Data Analyst on our Linguistics team, you’ll leverage your language expertise to support the development and refinement of language data across our products. Your fluency will directly impact how specific languages are represented and maintained within Lightcast’s global platform. In this role, you’ll play a pivotal part in shaping linguistic features, driving quality standards, and enhancing product functionality.

This is a full-time contract role with the potential to transition into a W-2 employee position based on performance and business needs. It’s a unique opportunity to influence the evolution of language data on a global scale while contributing to cutting-edge technology.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and enhance the data quality of multilingual text classifiers
  • Collaborate with linguistics and engineering teams to develop and optimize language parsers
  • Translate and align taxonomies across multiple languages, including Skills, Titles, and Occupations
  • Create crosswalks from source language skills and job titles to Lightcast’s standardized taxonomies
  • Utilize SQL for efficient data handling, querying, and database management

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Data Analytics, NLP, or a related field (preferred)
  • Strong linguistics knowledge, including syntax and structural analysis of languages
  • Competency in three or more languages — strong preference given to candidates fluent in Danish, Croatian, and Czech
  • Knowledge of multinational labor markets (preferred)
  • Experience with data analysis using tools such as Excel or Python
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including vlookups, data cleanup, and functions
  • Knowledge of query languages such as SQL
  • Familiarity with text analysis or machine learning principles
  • Knowledge of RegEx

Lightcast is a global leader in labor market insights with headquarters in Moscow (ID) with offices in the United Kingdom, Europe, and India.  We work with partners across six continents to help drive economic prosperity and mobility by providing the insights needed to build and develop our people, our institutions and companies, and our communities.

Lightcast is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status. Lightcast has always been, and always will be, committed to diversity, equity and inclusion. We seek dynamic professionals from all backgrounds to join our teams, and we encourage our employees to bring their authentic, original, and best selves to work.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
