About the Role:


The role of Senior Privacy Counsel, is a fantastic opportunity for a candidate who is driven to take a collaborative approach to building privacy and product frameworks that will redefine the digital advertising ecosystem. The candidate who fills this role will be an instrumental legal advisor and business partner to the cross-functional teams building the critical, privacy-focused technologies that will replace third party cookies and build a trusted advertising ecosystem for the open internet and Connected TV.


Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, you will be joining a growing legal team as a leader and you will work on unique issues in a vibrant, fast-paced environment. As a talented, self-motivated, and experienced legal professional that is excited by taking on complex legal projects, you will be able to exercise sound, independent legal judgment in fast-paced, high-stakes circumstances, and must have a proven ability to translate complex legal issues into practical solutions for the company.


The role will focus on strategic and tactical legal counselling to mitigate legal risk and proactively handle privacy-related regulatory compliance. You will have deep experience advising on all matter of privacy laws, with an emphasis in advertising technologies, and will be both professionally and personally engaged in keeping up to date with the ever-changing legal landscape related to data and consumer privacy.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with the company's product and business teams from the initial stages of product development and beyond to identify potential legal risks and provide risk-mitigation counseling.
  • Maintain an up to date understanding of the intersection of global privacy laws and advertising technology, and how the use of cookies, tags, pixels, and other mechanisms customize and personalize digital advertising.
  • Work closely with internal business partners to understand their perspectives, processes, applications, projects and technologies to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and best practices while guiding them to the successful resolution of projects.
  • Develop privacy-focused global strategies to engage with partners, external organizations, and regulators in support of the company’s vision of a thriving, advertising supported open internet.
  • Educate employees, partners, and clients about current and emerging privacy issues facing the company and the industry.

Who You Are – Skills & Qualifications:

  • J.D. degree from ABA accredited law school
  • Bar: Must be a member in good standing in either CA or NY
  • 10+ years of legal experience, including significant experience advising on advertising technology matters (in-house experience on advertising technology legal issues is preferred)
  • Expertise in legal issues impacting the digital advertising industry including self-regulatory guidelines, privacy issues and legislation, consumer protection, and global privacy laws & regulations (such as GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other international data protection frameworks)
  • Experience engaging with external organizations or regulators on complex privacy matters
  • Proficiency with MS Office products
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate complex issues succinctly and clearly
  • An adaptable problem-solver who challenges the status quo, seeks to make things better and more efficient
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and great judgment. Decisive, forward thinking, energetic and accountable, with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with diligence, organization, and minimal supervision, and provide practical, business-friendly advice to clients
  • Ability to boil complex issues down to the bottom line and provide pragmatic advice that can be operationalized
  • Builds effective relationships inside and outside the company established on trust, respect and confidence
  • Someone who is constantly seeking to keep abreast of current events in the wider Privacy community and has a keen interest in the underlying technology we support
  • Collaborative work style, with the ability to build consensus, and drive for results
  • Lastly, a good sense of humor is encouraged and appreciated

The Corporate Counsel position will be based at our Irvine, CA Headquarters. Currently, we are working remotely with the option to be on site. Our future approach will be a hybrid working model (in-office/remote) later this year!
