Job Description Summary:

The Global Privacy Team’s mission is to protect critical customer data from misuse by consistently bringing a privacy-first mindset to a constantly evolving industry. We are seeking an experienced and passionate privacy professional with privacy and technical depth, product intuition and practical self-starter mindset to advise and embed privacy by design in our processes, products and experiences.

 

Job Description:

This position reports into the Director of Global Privacy Advisory, and will be responsible for working closely with Product, Marketing and other business units to manage and enhance privacy processes surrounding the product development lifecycle. The role is an instrumental part of realizing the concept of privacy as the competitive advantage that will drive customers to use PayPal as their payment platform of choice.

 

Position Summary/Responsibilities:

  • Use knowledge of the law and policy to act as a bridge between regulatory needs and competing priorities with product and engineering
  • Assist product and internal teams with completion of Privacy Impact Assessments regarding the use of personal information and implementation of mitigating controls
  • Propose enhancements for privacy processes and risk settings, and work with internal technology partners to develop and implement those changes
  • Develop analyses of privacy process metrics to promote understanding of how the business uses personal information and how such use can be reviewed, audited, and improved
  • Create guidelines and best practices for the product and engineering team on how to build privacy into the products and technology 
  • Establish and motivate stakeholders across various levels of management by acting as a trusted advisor
  • Support in the design of customer facing products to ensure privacy by design and privacy compliance at launch
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable privacy requirements and be able to apply this to the PayPal Privacy program framework, procedures and broader strategies
  • Develop strong partnerships with key stakeholders from product, marketing, legal, & compliance teams.

 

The successful candidates should also be able to offer a strategic perspective, sound business judgment, adaptability to changing priorities at hand, and be able to effectively work and communicate collaboratively / cross-functionally with multiple teams located in different geographies. Candidate must have a hands-on approach, strong intellectual curiosity and attention to detail and organization, and a passion for achieving practical business impact.

 

Qualifications/ Education/Experience/Skills:

  • 5-7 years of privacy experience.
  • Experience working with privacy compliance systems, such as impact assessments and incident management
  • Experience working with acquisitions and external vendors of data and technology
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excitement and passion to spread the privacy culture.
  • Ability to navigate a complex organizational structure to drive results.
  • Proven track record of driving results and building effective relationships with all levels of management.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask effortlessly and manage competing priorities under demanding deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, manage projects and drive/achieve results, while working with minimal direction.
  • Experience with the solving customer privacy challenges across cross functional teams.
