Ring, a subsidiary of Amazon, is searching for a smart and motivated individual to be responsible for responding to law enforcement requests (e.g., subpoenas, search warrants) received from government agencies located in the U.S. and elsewhere. We are seeking a talented individual who can support this critical function as the company continues to grow and scale around the world.

The LER Specialist’s principal duty is to make sure that requests are processed professionally and expeditiously, all while ensuring the privacy and security of business and customer information in accordance with the law and with Ring’s various policies and procedures. This requires great judgment and experience dealing with challenging and time sensitive situations. The LER Specialist must be able to interface effectively with Ring team members and law enforcement personnel located in the U.S. and other countries. The LER Specialist also will be responsible for identifying process improvements and implementing new or improved tools and processes to increase efficiencies.

Candidates must be self-motivated, have a strong work ethic, and be able to work independently and with little supervision. 

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and respond to law enforcement requests in a manner consistent with the privacy and security of business and customer information, in accordance with the law and with Ring’s various policies and procedures
  • Receive and process emergency law enforcement requests both during and outside of normal business hours, and sometimes overnight
  • Utilize a combination of manual and automated tools to compile information potentially responsive to a particular law enforcement request
  • Identify process improvements and implement new or improved tools and processes to increase efficiencies
  • Communicate verbally and in writing with law enforcement personnel, Ring team members, outside counsel, and others
  • Coordinate with team members and outside counsel with respect to other legal requests

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience engaging with law enforcement personnel 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with making and/or responding to law enforcement requests
  • Written and verbal fluency in English
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and judgment
  • Strong analytical and computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office Professional Suite, including Excel
  • Ability to work and to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment with high-volume workflows
  • Excellent ability to build strong relationships with internal and external clients and customers
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently and manage multiple projects at once
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment 
  • Strong common sense
