About This Role

At Apeel Sciences, we look to nature to help the global food system improve quality, reduce waste, and ensure an abundant future for our planet. We are seeking a detail-oriented Compliance Specialist to support our manufacturing operations and our adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) for our products. The ideal candidate can interpret regulations from domestic and international regulatory authorities, and is able to apply the principles to Apeel’s facilities and processes. The person in this role will work in close collaboration with other teams at Apeel to ensure compliance in all our operations.

What You’ll Do

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all applicable regulations, including the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), guidance documents, and other agency regulations as appropriate
• Review international regulations to develop compliance programs in new geographies
• Generate and update Standard Operating Procedures, Forms, and other controlled documents in compliance with applicable regulations
• Manage Apeel pest control and sanitation programs
• Manage and build Apeel’s Environmental Monitoring Program(s)
• Review records for accuracy and completion, in compliance with GMPs and Good Documentation Practices
• Work closely with the Facilities & Manufacturing teams to ensure compliance with GMPs at all Apeel facilities
• Provide support to Apeel teams by being an expert in food safety and GMPs
• Proactively identify areas for improvement at Apeel, and implement processes that help to advance our operations

• Experience working in an FDA-regulated industry (food industry is preferred)
• Extreme attention to detail
• Excellent writing skills
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office programs
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Highly organized and with a strong ability to manage multiple priorities in parallel with each other
• Highly committed to collaborative teamwork
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Spanish proficiency is a strong plus
