Summary:
The Attorney, Content Legal will be responsible for handling Production Legal and/or Legal Affairs functions in connection with the development and production of content (scripted, alternative, and daily news, sports, entertainment and lifestyle programming) licensed from third-party producers.
What You'll Do:
- Establish and implement best practices and processes for the Content Legal team
- Provide timely and thoughtful advice on potential risks and issues associated with productions, including risks associated with physical production, defamation, privacy, intellectual property (IP), true crime, hidden camera/hoax, competitions, minors, etc.
- Evaluate and monitor the steps and processes Quibi’s licensors are taking in order to mitigate/eliminate identified risks
- Structure, negotiate and draft legal affairs agreements
- Conduct pre-exhibition review of content to ensure licensor compliance with IP issues and contractual restrictions
- Advise on and enforce insurance and indemnity requirements
- Collaborate with the key stakeholders, including business affairs, production, and creative teams, to ensure alignment with business goals and objectives
What You'll Need:
- 5+ years of television production legal and/or legal affairs experience with on-point work
- Experience (ideally in a studio, network, entertainment law firm or production company environment)
- Possess a comprehensive working knowledge of production legal issues (including defamation, privacy and IP issues) and entertainment legal affairs
- Strong communication, drafting and analytical skills
- Ability to build strong internal client relationships, effectively advise clients under conditions of uncertainty, high-pressure and/or high-risk, and generate strong client
- Satisfaction through strategic thinking and firm decision making
- Willingness to tackle matters outside area of expertise
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and membership in good standing in at least one state bar
