Ballard Spahr LLP has an entry-level opportunity for a legal support assistant in the Los Angeles office. The selected individual will provide administrative support to Legal Administrative Assistants, possess a mastery of organization skills, assume responsibility with minimal supervision, exercise initiative and judgment to make decisions within the scope of their assigned authority, and champion and practice collaboration with all employees. This position will primarily work onsite in our Los Angeles office; there may be later opportunities for periodic remote work.

Your Role:

As a Legal Support Assistant, you will assist with general and legal administrative responsibilities such as:

  • preparing, formatting, and editing correspondence and documents

  • assisting with preparing closing binders

  • running reports

  • filing documents manually and electronically

  • entering time and preparing and submitting expense reports

Required Experience:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, a college degree is a plus, and prior law firm or professional services experience is preferred.  Excellent technical and organizational skills are essential to success in this position. Candidates should be comfortable working in a large professional environment and have working knowledge of the firm’s computer applications, document management system, and Microsoft Office, particularly with Word, Excel, and Outlook.  

Ballard Spahr offers an excellent benefits package that includes medical, fertility benefits, travel and lodging expenses, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage; life insurance, short and long-term disability; 401(k) retirement savings plan with a firm contribution and match; and a generous paid time off program.  Additional benefits provided are health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts, and a health savings account; paid parental leave, firm subsidized emergency child and elder care services; family and medical leave; employee assistance program; and a pre-tax transportation program.  Time worked in excess of 40 hours per week will be paid at time and one half of the hourly rate. The salary range for this position is from $55,000 - $65,000 depending upon experience and location.
