Our Opportunity
We at Chewy are seeking a dynamic Legal Operations Manager to join our Legal Department in Plantation, Florida! This role offers an exceptional opportunity for a strategic, results-driven leader who excels at building and optimizing operational processes. As our Legal Operations Manager, you will partner closely with teams across Finance, IT, HR, Procurement, and Operations to enhance workflows, improve efficiency, and effectively manage legal spend and vendor relationships. Reporting directly to the Associate Director, Legal Chief of Staff, you will also lead the implementation of innovative legal technologies, automation initiatives, and data-driven strategies designed to enhance the impact and effectiveness of the entire Legal Department.
What You'll Do
Financial & Vendor Management

  • Manage legal spend administration, partnering closely with Finance to oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for legal vendors and outside counsel, ensuring compliance with billing guidelines and optimizing vendor relationships.
  • Conduct detailed reviews of legal bills to validate charges and maintain cost discipline.
  • Manage vendor onboarding, vendor renewals, and contract negotiations in collaboration with Procurement and Legal teams.
  • Provide actionable insights and analysis on legal spend to senior Legal Department leadership, Finance, and Accounting, highlighting opportunities for cost optimization and efficiency improvements.


Technology & Systems Administration

  • Administer and maintain legal spend management systems (e.g., Legal Tracker), ensuring data accuracy and reporting efficiency.
  • Oversee Legal Document Management platforms (e.g., NetDocuments, SharePoint), maintaining compliance with department processes and effectiveness.
  • Support Risk & Compliance platforms and functions (Policy Management, AuditBoard, Navex, Riskonnect).
  • Manage implementation and integration of legal technology systems, driving process automation and efficiency.
  • Act as the primary liaison with IT to ensure compliance with Chewy IT & Security policies (e.g., Single Sign on) for legal technology.
  • Support eDiscovery platform (Casepoint) and compliance initiatives.
  • Facilitate process enhancements through workflow management tools (e.g., ServiceNow (SNOW), Confluence, JIRA).


Process Improvement & Project Management

  • Develop, document, and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and reports to streamline legal operations.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional projects related to legal operations, compliance, and governance.
  • Identify, analyze, and reduce complexities within legal processes and systems, improving user experience and operational effectiveness.
  • Drive knowledge management initiatives, including creating, updating, and maintaining departmental playbooks.


Training & Development

  • Lead departmental learning and development initiatives, ensuring ongoing continuing legal education opportunities as well as development opportunities related to processes, technology, and best practices.
  • Gain proficiency in legal technology tools, championing adoption and continuous improvement of user experience.


What You'll Need

  • B.A. or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in Legal Operations, Contracts Administration, Business Analytics, or Legal Technology.
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets, forecasting, and analyzing legal spend.
  • Familiarity with legal terminology and systems (e.g., Matter Management, Contract Lifecycle Management, Legal Spend Management).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Excel.
  • Experience analyzing and synthesizing multiple data sets to provide informed recommendations; experience with business intelligence tools a plus.
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Travel Requirement: ability and willingness to travel up to 10%.


Preferred Experience (Not Required)

  • Experience implementing and management legal technology platforms.
  • Familiarity with legal invoicing standards (LEDES files).
  • Knowledge or proficiency with SQL and data analytics tools.
