Job Summary

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Legal Advisory:
• Provide expert legal advice to internal stakeholders on various legal matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts and agreements.
• Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations that may impact the company.
Corporate Governance:
• Oversee and ensure compliance with corporate governance principles.
• Collaborate with internal teams to implement corporate policies and procedures.
Global Operations:
• Manage legal aspects related to global operations, including cross-border transactions.
• Work closely with international legal teams to ensure consistency and compliance.
Contract Management:
• Develop and implement effective contract management processes.
• Ensure contracts align with the company's legal and business objectives.
Risk Management:
• Identify legal risks and propose risk mitigation strategies.
• Conduct legal assessments to safeguard the company's interests.
Litigation Support:
• Liaise with external counsel on litigation matters.
• Assist in managing legal disputes and resolutions.

Job Description

  • Claims and Litigation Management:
    • Manage diverse docket of claims and litigation against the company, including negotiating and resolving claims.
    • Select and manage outside counsel, expert witnesses and legal spend.
    • Set case strategy, develop trial plans for cases going to trial, develop discovery plan, review discovery, witness preparation, review and edit briefs and other pleadings and recommend resolution strategy.
    • Assist financial teams with loss reserves and projections for claims and litigation.
    • Lead incident investigation, claims reporting and handling.
    • Participate in mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution
  • Document and eDiscovery Management:
    • Develop, prepare and present eDiscovery strategies and best practices.
    • Develop, implement and manage eDiscovery management and workflows that include litigation holds and releases, early case assessment, data source and custodian identification, data analytics, data preservation, data collection (independently and through coordination of external and internal resources), data processing, and document review and production strategies (including the use of vendors, when needed).
  • Product Safety Management
    • Provide feedback, advice and counsel regarding safety-related issues.
    • Attend product safety reviews.
    • Manage product recalls.
  • Insurance and Finance Assistance
    • Responsible for reporting matter to insurance carriers and advise the business on insurance coverage
    • Manage Certificate of Insurance requests and requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by NAHC’s Vice President Legal Services.
