Project Counsel | SkyNRG Americas | Remote, US + Travel
We are seeking a Project Counsel to join our US team at least 4 days per week that is authorized to work in the United States and lives in the Eastern or Central time zones. SkyNRG is a dedicated team of professionals working to materially decarbonize the aviation sector through the sales, distribution and production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) since 2010. We have the largest dedicated SAF team in the world with our Global Headquarters in Amsterdam, Netherlands. We work collaboratively with all relevant stakeholders, from airlines, businesses, governments, and NGOs to academics, and we do not compromise on sustainability in our effort to bring new fueling solutions to the aviation industry.
Project Wigeon is SkyNRG’s flagship U.S. Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) initiative, focused on building one of the country’s first commercial-scale facilities dedicated to producing sustainable aviation fuel from renewable natural gas. Located in Washington State, Project Wigeon leverages cutting-edge technology, strong regional partnerships, and SkyNRG’s global leadership in SAF development to accelerate the transition to cleaner air travel. As part of the US team, you’ll help shape an effort that supports climate goals and the long-term sustainability of aviation for SkyNRG in North America. As Project Counsel, you will work closely with the US-based team and report to the Deputy General Counsel based in Amsterdam.
About The Position
We are seeking a Project Counsel who will serve as the primary legal resource for SkyNRG Americas and Project Wigeon. This US based role will play a crucial part in drafting and negotiating complex agreements that bring this transformative project to life, from technology licensing and EPC contracts to offtake agreements and RNG sourcing, as well as additional business activities throughout North America.
The ideal candidate is a pragmatic, business-focused legal professional with 6 to 10 years of in-house practice in experience in renewable energy project development and infrastructure, who is adept at issue spotting, synthesizing information, stakeholder engagement, and working with outside counsel in a cost-effective manner, and can bridge the time zone gap between our US operations and Amsterdam headquarters.
Key Responsibilities
Provide dedicated legal support to SkyNRG Americas and Project Wigeon, serving as the main internal legal resource for all project legal needs
Draft, analyze, and negotiate agreements relating to: Technology licensing, FEED and EPC contracts, Offtake agreements, RNG sourcing, Site agreements, Project utilities
Coordinate contractual needs for the project team with external partners, managing negotiations with counterparties and internal priorities to meet project schedule and desired outcomes without compromising critical details
Distill complex information to deliver clear, precise and pragmatic advice to business and cross-functional stakeholders
Participate in project meetings and stay connected to evolving project needs, nuances, and timelines
Provide general legal support including financing, legal oversight of outside counsel, and other day-to-day legal activities related to SkyNRG US activities
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) with active US bar membership in good standing
Exceptional drafting, negotiating, and analytical skills with high business acumen.
6-10 years of relevant legal experience, with at least 3 years in-house experience
3–4 years of relevant experience in oil & gas, renewable energy, or infrastructure, including project development, technology licensing, and/or large-scale infrastructure projects.

Location
This US based role is primarily a work-from-home position for applicants who are authorized to live and work in Eastern or Central time zone in the United States.
SkyNRG Americas maintains a small office in Bend, Oregon, but our US team works remotely from locations across the country. We've built a strong remote-first culture with excellent virtual collaboration tools and practices. While the role is predominantly remote, our team comes together periodically for in-person meetings and collaboration sessions. There will be some travel to the Bend office that will be expected of the individual, with additional business-related travel to Amsterdam and other relevant locations at the company's direction on a case-by-case basis.
