About the role
  • Nu's Legal Team has the special mission of protecting the company’s interests and reputation, supporting, within our area the competence, the launch and sustainable growth of products and services. The Legal department supports all Nu areas as a strategic partner, delivering specialized legal assessments and proposing innovative solutions for the daily challenges of a digital environment in constant evolution. We are committed to mitigating legal risks, anticipating issues and resolving disputes in an efficient and fair manner.

  • We are looking for a lawyer,, with experience in fintechs or financial companies, to directly support Nu's initiatives in the US. Although a relevant part of the work involves regulatory aspects, this position will require a generalist approach in alignment with Global Legal teams and engaging external counsel as needed.
You'll be responsible for
  • Advising on legal and regulatory matters related to Nu’s presence as a publicly listed company on the NYSE;
  • Providing legal guidance on U.S. financial regulations applicable to a global fintech environment;
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal agreements in accordance with U.S. standards and practices;
  • Monitoring relevant legal and regulatory developments in the U.S. and supporting internal impact assessments;
  • Coordinating with external counsel to ensure accurate and business-oriented legal support;
  • Working closely with Nu’s Global Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams to maintain consistent legal alignment across jurisdictions;
  • Supporting internal stakeholders with risk-aware legal advice that enables Nu to operate efficiently and compliantly;
  • Developing deep business acumen and regulatory understanding to propose creative legal solutions that reflect Nu’s customer-centric approach.

We are looking for a person who has
  • Law Degree (around 15 years of experience after graduation)
  • Admitted to practice law in the US;
  • Fluent English. 
  • Spanish and/or Portuguese is desirable;
  • Objective communication and efficient internal and external client management;
  • Adaptable and fast learner, develops excellent business acumen;
  • Holistic thinker with excellent prioritization skills;
  • Proactive and curious;
  • Creative problem solving;
  • Project management skills.

Our Nu Way of Working 

Our work model is hybrid and has cycles that can be from two to three months according to the business of ​​expertise. For every eight or twelve weeks of remote work, one will be at the office. We have a technology hub based in Durham, USA, where our technology teams are instrumental in creating increasingly better products for our customers where we have operations.
