The Private Wealth Public Funds Legal group supports Blackstone Private Wealth, one of the firm’s most strategic and entrepreneurial businesses.

Blackstone Private Wealth represents $302 billion of Blackstone’s more than $1 trillion in assets under management and is a key growth driver for the firm. The business is a recognized leader in expanding access to private markets for eligible individual investors, with investment solutions spanning real estate, private credit, private equity, infrastructure, and multi-asset strategies.

The individual-investor market is at the epicenter of investment-management innovation, and Blackstone Private Wealth is one of the most successful businesses of its kind in the industry. The Private Wealth Group has a stated goal of reaching $1 trillion in assets under management, making the Private Wealth Public Funds Legal team central to the business’s long-term growth and product strategy.

The Opportunity

This role sits within a fast-growing and dynamic business, with a focus on registered funds and BDCs within Blackstone’s industry-leading Private Wealth Group. The Private Wealth Funds Attorney will gain broad exposure across Blackstone’s registered and private wealth fund platform.

The attorney will work on a variety of legal and general corporate matters, including product structuring and managing the day-to-day legal matters for new and existing registered funds and other arrangements offered through private wealth channels. The attorney will support flagship funds as well as cover new initiatives. The role will combine strategic product-development work with the detailed legal, regulatory, governance, and operational support required to launch and manage registered products.

The candidate will collaborate cross-functionally across Private Wealth and other Blackstone business units, including the Investment Teams, Operations, Institutional Client Solutions, Finance, Tax, Public Affairs, Legal and Compliance, and other groups in the United States, Europe, Latin America, and Asia.

The team offers the resources and scale of a global market leader while maintaining a collaborative, hands-on environment. The successful candidate will have meaningful ownership of projects, visibility with senior stakeholders, and the opportunity to help shape products, standards, and processes as the platform continues to grow.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key legal partner in the design and development of private wealth funds, from initial concept through launch and ongoing operation.

  • Participate in the structuring, design, launch, and ongoing management of new and existing registered funds (interval funds, closed-end funds) and, BDCs , and other vehicles offered through private wealth channels.

  • Advise on matters arising under the Investment Company Act of 1940 and other applicable securities laws and regulations.

  • Assist with project management and fund formation matters and participate in product development across multiple investment structures, strategies, and jurisdictions.

  • Partner with senior leaders and business teams on strategic projects involving new products, evolving fund structures, and the continued expansion of the Private Wealth platform.

  • Translate complex legal and regulatory requirements into clear, practical guidance for investment professionals, senior management, and other non-legal stakeholders.

  • Participate in the creation and management of registered-fund board materials and support related board meetings.

  • Manage regulatory filings, including Forms 8-K, 10-Q, 10-K, 10, N-2, and N-CSR (as applicable), as well as registration statements, prospectus updates, and other public-company and registered-fund filings.

  • Advise on ongoing legal, regulatory, governance, and operational matters affecting new and existing funds.

  • Provide legal support in connection with the development of marketing, investor communications, and fundraising materials for registered funds.

  • Collaborate with the in-house Legal and Compliance team and external counsel to monitor and implement legal and regulatory developments affecting the registered-fund platform.

  • Help develop and improve legal processes, standards, and infrastructure as the product platform continues to evolve.

Qualifications

  • At least four years of experience practicing law as a law firm associate or in-house counsel, preferably focused on registered funds and investment-management law, including the Investment Company Act of 1940. Capital markets, securities, or similar public-company experience is also suitable.

  • Familiarity with BDCs and interval funds is strongly preferred but not required. Experience with closed-end funds or other registered investment products is also valuable.

  • Experience with public -company or registered -fund filings is preferred.

  • Experience with ERISA, retirement assets, private-fund vehicles, or products offered through private wealth channels is helpful but not required.

  • Highly motivated, proactive, and hands-on professional with sound judgment, strong communication and relationship-building skills, and experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Expected annual base salary range:

$165,000 - $250,000

Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.
Additional compensation and benefits offered in connection with the role consist of comprehensive health benefits, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, and FSA benefits; paid time off; life insurance; 401(k) plan; and discretionary bonuses. Certain employees may also be eligible for equity and other incentive compensation at Blackstone’s sole discretion.
