What we need 

We’re looking for an experienced Customer Solutions Engineering Leader to guide our solution design team within our Sales organization. In this role, you will oversee the strategic direction, execution, and leadership of the team responsible for designing and delivering tailored automation solutions that meet customer needs. Leveraging your deep expertise in Symbotic’s systems, you will play a critical role in aligning technical solutions with business objectives, ensuring exceptional customer engagement, and driving innovation in solution design. Strong leadership, communication skills, supply chain experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this executive-level role. 

What you’ll do 

  • Build, scale, and lead a high-performing team of customer solutions engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation. 

  • Recruit, onboard, train, coach, and mentor team members to ensure technical excellence and professional growth. 

  • Strategically plan workloads across the team to balance priorities and ensure timely completion of projects that meet customer deadlines. 

  • Establish clear performance metrics and standards to drive quality control, accuracy, and adherence to Symbotic’s design principles. 

  • Lead the development of innovative solution configurations that integrate Symbotic systems into customers’ facilities while addressing their unique business challenges. 

  • Collaborate with designers to produce comprehensive warehouse and other customer site layouts using AutoCAD and other tools. 

  • Partner with Systems Engineering to define processes and develop advanced modeling solutions that enhance system performance. 

  • Transform business needs into specific hardware, software, or system-level recommendations that strengthen Symbotic’s value proposition 

  • Act as the primary technical advisor during sales calls, presenting complex concepts confidently to executive-level audiences. 

  • Capture customer requirements and translate them into actionable insights for product management to inform market requirement documents. 

  • Work closely with the Sales team to develop proposals, including configurations and pricing strategies that align with customer needs. 

  • Build strong relationships with customers by understanding their operational processes, motivations for automation, and long-term goals. 

  • Oversee data modeling efforts using Microsoft Excel (including PowerPivot), SQL databases, Access, and other tools to size and specify appropriate automation equipment. 

  • Conduct financial analysis to support business case justification and evaluate cost/benefit tradeoffs for proposed solutions. 

  • Develop automation modeling tools that streamline solution design processes while delivering actionable insights for customers. 

  • Attend sales calls with the sales team to answer technical questions about Symbotic 

  • Produce clear and concise executive-level communications in written form or presentations tailored for internal stakeholders or customers. 

  • Represent Symbotic at industry events or customer meetings as a thought leader in automation solutions. 

  • Creating and maintaining a professional teamwork environment and being an excellent team player while working with various members of the engineering teams 

 

What you’ll need 

  • BS/BA in engineering, operations research, science, or business; MBA or Master’s in Engineering preferred 

  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in supply chain solution engineering or related roles within the automated materials handling industry. 

  • Proven track record managing complex projects and proposals in the automated materials handling industry 

  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing cross-functional teams at an executive level; direct leadership experience preferred. 

  • Expertise in financial analysis, business case justification, cost/benefit tradeoffs, and sales proposal development. 

  • Advanced analytical capabilities with experience in data modeling using Microsoft Excel (PowerPivot), SQL databases, Access; programming skills are a plus. 

  • Exceptional presentation skills with confidence presenting complex concepts to large executive-level audiences. 

  • Ability to articulate technical designs clearly while collaborating professionally across diverse engineering teams. 

  • Strong critical thinking skills with a proven ability to solve complex problems efficiently under tight deadlines. 

  • A proactive approach to identifying opportunities for innovation while adapting quickly to changing customer needs. 

 

Our environment 

  • Up to 25% travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations. 

  • The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
