ABOUT THE ROLE:

The UX team at Rightway creates user-friendly digital experiences that enhance patient care and support patients' pharmacy needs throughout their healthcare journey. We are a small, full-stack design and research shop supporting the entire company. As we grow, we're seeking a passionate Lead Product Designer to craft seamless user experiences and beautiful and intuitive user interfaces.

As the Lead Product Designer, you’ll immerse yourself in the user journey, collaborate closely with users, stakeholders, product managers, and engineers. You will play a critical role in motivating the teams and maintaining forward momentum, delivering exceptional experiences across web and mobile platforms.

This is an impactful, ‘roll up your sleeves’ entrepreneurial position where you will manage a wide range of high-impact projects. We're looking for a proactive design leader who thrives in ambiguity, drives product strategy through research, and champions collaboration. If you're passionate about solving complex problems, exploring new paradigms, and shaping healthcare design, this role is for you. One of the key projects will be designing a member engagement platform. You will formulate product requirements based on the research.

This is an individual contributor leadership role (no direct reports), with high ownership and visibility across the product.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Lead End-to-End Product Design: Own the entire UX/UI process for the products you will be working on. Follow and evolve our existing design process.
  • Champion UX Research: Conduct user and stakeholder interviews, usability testing, and iterative design validation to generate actionable insights. You’ll design and run research yourself and partner with teammates as needed.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with PMs, engineers, and business stakeholders. Be an active, supportive member of our tight-knit design team, reviewing, ideating, and iterating together.
  • Leverage AI: Use AI tools to accelerate synthesis, explore design alternatives, and prototype faster.
  • UI: Design final (or close-to-final) engaging solution screens.
  • Deliver with Engineering: Work closely with engineers through implementation to ensure high-quality execution and polish.
  • Accessibility-minded design (WCAG): Build inclusive experiences with attention to accessibility and usability across diverse member needs.
  • Drive Innovation & Alignment: Lead collaborative sessions that foster creativity, clarity, and team alignment.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • 8+ years of experience designing UX/UI for web and mobile products, with 4+ years in a senior or lead role.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates end-to-end design thinking, UX research, innovation, and visual excellence.
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative user and market research skills, analysis, synthesis, and communication.
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills (interviews, desk research, usability testing, survey insights, in-app analytics analysis)
  • Working knowledge of Figma, usability testing tools, and modern AI-enhanced design tools. You should be comfortable using the existing Figma component library to craft final designs.
  • Demonstrable experience with vibe coding solutions (Figma Make/Lovable).
  • Strong experience in usability testing and methods like JTBD.
  • Information architecture (naming, navigation, hierarchy)
  • UX writing / content strategy (microcopy, labels, clarity)
  • Experience in positioning data to tell a compelling story, setting strategic direction.
  • Strong presenter, facilitator, and influencer; you communicate clearly and guide discussions with confidence.
  • A self-starter with a high level of initiative and comfort operating in ambiguity

EXTRA CREDIT:

  • Degree in UX, HCI, Human Factors, Psychology, Visual Design, or related field.
  • Experience in healthcare
  • Experience designing engagement or communications products (chat, messaging, reminders, notifications)
  • Background in business analysis, requirements gathering, product/project management.

SALARY (BEFORE COMMISSION POTENTIAL):  $140,000 - $160,000

Offer amounts for both remote and in office roles are influenced by geographic location.

ABOUT RIGHTWAY:

Rightway is on a mission to harmonize healthcare for everyone, everywhere. Our products guide patients to the best care and medications by inserting clinicians and pharmacists into a patient’s care journey through a modern, mobile app. Rightway is a front door to healthcare, giving patients the tools they need along with on-demand access to Rightway health guides, human experts that answer their questions and manage the frustrating parts of healthcare for them.

Since its founding in 2017, Rightway has raised over $205mm from investors including Khosla Ventures, Thrive Capital, and Tiger Global. We’re headquartered in New York City, with satellite offices in Denver and Dallas. Our clients rely on us to transform the healthcare experience, improve outcomes for their teams, and decrease their healthcare costs.

HOW WE LIVE OUR VALUES TO OUR TEAMMATES:

We’re seeking those with passion for healthcare and relentless devotion to our goal. We need team members that embody our following core values:

1) We are human, first
Our humanity binds us together. We bring the same empathetic approach to every individual we engage with, whether it be our members, our clients, or each other. We are all worthy of respect and understanding and we engage in our interactions with care and intention. We honor our stories. We listen to—and hear—each other, we celebrate our differences and similarities, we are present for each other, and we strive for mutual understanding.

2) We redefine what is possible
We always look beyond the obstacles in front of us to imagine new solutions. We approach our work with inspiration from other industries, other leaders, and other challenges. We use ingenuity and resourcefulness when faced with tough problems.

3) We debate then commit
We believe that a spirit of open discourse is part of a healthy culture. We understand and appreciate different perspectives and we challenge our assumptions. When working toward a decision or a new solution, we actively listen to one another, approach it with a “yes, and” mentality, and assume positive intent. Once a decision is made, we align and champion it as one team.

4) We cultivate grit
Changing healthcare doesn’t happen overnight. We reflect and learn from challenges and approach the future with a determination to strive for better. In the face of daunting situations, we value persistence. We embrace failure as a stepping stone to future success. On this journey, we seek to act with guts, resilience, initiative, and tenacity.

5) We seek to delight
Healthcare is complicated and personal. We work tirelessly to meet the goals of our clients while also delivering the best experience to our members. We recognize that no matter the role or team, we each play a crucial part in our members’ care and take that responsibility seriously. When faced with an obstacle, we are kind, respectful, and solution-oriented in our approach. We hold ourselves accountable to our clients and our members’ success.

Rightway is Proudly an Equal Opportunity Employer that believes in strength in the diversity of thought processes, beliefs, background and education and fosters an inclusive culture where differences are celebrated to drive the best business decisions possible. We do not discriminate on any basis covered by appropriate law. All employment is decided on the consideration of merit, qualifications, need and performance.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
