About the role

As Lead Technical Recruiter, Product & Engineering (US), you will own end-to-end hiring for A1’s US-based engineering and product roles.

This is a hands-on role. You will personally drive critical hires while helping define how technical recruiting is done at A1. Success is measured by quality of hire, speed, and signal, not volume.

You will work closely with founders, engineering leads, and product leadership to ensure we attract and close world-class candidates who thrive in small, high-bar teams.

What you will be doing
  • Own the full recruitment lifecycle for US-based product and engineering roles, from role intake through offer and onboarding support.

  • Source and engage senior technical candidates through relationship-driven channels (direct outreach, referrals, engineering communities), not job boards alone.

  • Partner closely with engineering and product leaders to clarify requirements, calibrate bar, and keep hiring decisions moving.

  • Screen candidates for technical depth, judgment, ownership, and execution mindset.

  • Coordinate interviews and feedback loops with speed, structure, and clarity.

  • Maintain accurate hiring data in the ATS and provide clear pipeline updates to stakeholders.

  • Help shape and raise the bar for A1’s technical hiring approach as the team scales.

What you will need
  • Strong experience in full-cycle technical recruiting, with solid exposure to the US hiring market.

  • Proven ability to run multiple technical searches in parallel without sacrificing quality.

  • Experience hiring software engineers, ML engineers, product managers, or other technical roles.

  • Strong intuition for technical profiles and how to assess real engineering and product talent.

  • Clear, confident communication in English (written and verbal).

  • Comfort working with ATS systems and tracking hiring metrics.

  • High ownership, urgency, and follow-through.

(Industry background is flexible. Strong technical hiring experience matters more than domain.)

Why join A1
  • Build the founding product and engineering team for a global AI application.

  • Work directly with senior engineers, product leaders, and founders.

  • High ownership, trust, and autonomy.

  • Flat structure – decisions are made close to the work.

  • Competitive compensation with room to grow as the team scales.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
