About the Role
The Lead Software Engineering Manager is a strategic technical leader responsible for overseeing multiple engineering teams that develop and maintain BW’s customer-facing and internal applications. This role focuses on improving project scoping and tracking, optimizing development processes, and leading efforts across cross-functional teams. The Lead Software Engineering Manager aligns engineering priorities with business objectives, promotes quality, and establishes standards among engineers. This role requires a strong balance of technical expertise, leadership, and organizational skills to drive engineering excellence, quality, and efficiency.
What You'll Do
- Lead and mentor multiple teams of engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, quality, and operational excellence.
- Help define and drive technical strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals while balancing scalability, performance, and resiliency.
- Partner with product management and senior leadership to influence roadmap planning and strategic decision-making.
- Establish project planning, tracking, and reporting frameworks and best-practices across teams.
- Identify opportunities to improve scrum/agile practices.
- Build relationships and improve workflows with teams such as Security, QA, Product, and stakeholders.
- Establish and refine engineering best practices, ensuring teams deliver high-quality and sustainable product.
- Contribute to process improvements cross release management, quality automation, and developer workflows.
- Guide engineering managers, principal and senior engineers in leadership, execution, and cross-team collaboration.
- Improve application lifecycle maintenance processes and contribute to a culture of proactiveness.
What You'll Need
- At least 8-12 years of experience in software engineering, with 3-5 years in a technical leadership role that includes previous people management.
- Proven experience in leading multiple engineering teams and scaling software development organizations.
- Strong background in distributed systems, cloud computing (AWS or similar), and modern API development.
- Up-to-date with current technologies to inform decision-making and technology adoption with focus on modern programming languages such as Node.js React, Typescript, GoLang, Python 3, or others.
- Expertise in optimizing engineering workflows, managing cross-team dependencies, and driving large-scale technical initiatives.
- Ability to balance hands-on technical leadership with strategic decision-making.
- Experience collaborating with senior stakeholders across product, engineering, and business teams.
- Track record of recruiting, developing, and retaining top engineering talent in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven record of shipping high-quality products that are maintainable, resilient, and performant.

What We Offer
The base salary range for this position is $230K to $245K/year. Offered salary will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to: applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with geographic market data. Business Wire reserves the right to modify this salary range at any time.
