We are seeking an experienced Lead Snowflake DBA to join our Data Engineering team. This role is integral to the success of our next-generation data warehouse environment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Snowflake's technology, with a proven track record of optimizing query performance, throughput, and costs to support business objectives.
What you’ll do:
- Oversee the administration and management of our Snowflake data warehouse, ensuring its optimal performance, security, and reliability.
- Design, implement, and monitor data management policies and procedures to ensure data security, accessibility, and availability.
- Collaborate with data analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and implement solutions to meet these needs efficiently.
- Conduct regular performance analysis of Snowflake usage & tuning to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Manage Snowflake security including roles, permissions, and access controls to protect sensitive data.
- Lead data migration projects, including schema definitions, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
- Keep abreast of new Snowflake features and technologies, advocating for and implementing upgrades and enhancements as appropriate.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior DBAs and other team members.
- Develop and maintain documentation for database architectures, configurations, and processes.
What you’ll bring:
- Strong understanding of database design, implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Expertise in SQL and experience with ETL tools and techniques.
- Proficiency in data modeling and data architecture.
- Knowledge of cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and how they integrate with Snowflake. AWS expertise is preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a commitment to maintaining high-quality data standards.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Expertise with SQL Server and Postgres in addition to Snowflake.
- Expertise managing Snowflake SSO configuration and access policies
- Expertise managing Snowflake role hierarchies.
- Up to date knowledge of Snowflake’s latest features.
- Proficiency with Git version control.
- Proficiency with Python programming language.
Ideal education/experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a DBA, with at least 2 years focused on Snowflake.
- Minimum of 2 years in a software development role.
- Previous experience as a team manager, lead, or mentor.
This position will have an hourly rate of up to $100/hour. The successful candidate will be employed through Noor Staffing Group, LLC.
