WHAT WE DO

Nitrogen equips financial advisors with a suite of AI-powered products that showcase the value of their advice so they can attract clients and keep them fearless. Since launching Riskalyze in 2011, we've been on a mission to create what we call Catalyst Moments — those powerful instances when an advisor helps a client go from confused to confident, from fearful to fearless.

Our connected suite brings together Risk Alignment, Investment Research, Income Planning, Tax Intelligence, and Legacy Planning, combining agentic AI with trusted, deterministic analytics to turn complex financial insights into persuasive visuals. The result: clearer conversations, stronger relationships, and advisors who can prove their value in every client meeting.

Trusted by tens of thousands of advisors, backed by an industry-leading NPS of 71, and the first wealthtech company to earn ISO 42001 certification, Nitrogen is built on 13 years of advisor data and half a trillion dollars in assets on platform. We invented the Risk Number®, built on a Nobel Prize-winning academic framework, and we champion the Fearless Investing Movement — because a world empowered to invest fearlessly starts with empowered advisors.

Nitrogen is an equal opportunity employer. We encourage people from underrepresented groups to apply. We are committed to being fair and intentional in our hiring decisions by reviewing every application thoroughly.

THE ROLE

You empower the world to invest fearlessly by translating the most complex areas of financial planning — Tax, Income, Estate, and Insurance — into software that advisors and their clients actually love to use. You own the vision and execution for Nitrogen's planning products, ensuring they reflect deep domain truth while remaining simple, differentiated, and delightful in the market.

Lead Product Manager:

  • Owns the product vision and roadmap for Nitrogen's complex planning products: Tax, Income, Legacy, and Insurance.
  • Drives the full product lifecycle — conceptualization, prioritization, execution, go-to-market collaboration, and post-launch iteration — across these product areas.
  • Maintains industry-leading depth in relevant planning domains, sufficient to be trusted by advisors, partners, and the financial media.
  • Translates inherently complex planning concepts into product experiences that feel simple and intuitive to advisors and end clients.
  • Represents Nitrogen externally as a domain authority — in customer conversations, on conference stages, in podcasts, written content, and media interviews.
  • Builds and maintains a continuous feedback loop with customers, prospects, and industry experts to inform product direction.
  • Manages and develops Product Owners, setting clear expectations, ensuring high-quality execution, and growing them as product professionals.
  • Partners closely with Engineering, Design, and GTM teams to ensure products ship on predictable cadence and land successfully in market.
  • Makes rigorous, evidence-based prioritization decisions and communicates them clearly across stakeholders, including when telling people no.
  • Maintains a working understanding of the regulatory, tax-code, and insurance-industry landscape, anticipating changes that affect roadmap.
  • Defines and tracks success metrics for each product area and uses them to drive continuous improvement.
  • Aligns the planning product roadmap with broader company strategy and revenue objectives.

Requirements
  • Deep domain expertise in insurance and tax planning at an expert level, with demonstrated fluency in the regulatory, tax-code, and insurance-industry landscape. CFP certification is strongly preferred.
  • Meaningful experience either running your own financial planning practice or working in a WealthTech company — you understand how advisors think, how practices operate, and what it takes to build software that earns trust in this industry.
  • Working knowledge of income and legacy planning concepts, with the ability to translate estate planning, retirement income strategies, and wealth transfer considerations into sound product decisions.
  • Exceptional communication skills across written, verbal, and external-facing formats — you can present complex financial concepts clearly to advisors, clients, and partners.
  • Proven ability to translate inherently complex planning concepts into product experiences that feel simple and intuitive.
  • Strong instincts for customer and market understanding — you actively build and maintain feedback loops with customers, prospects, and industry experts, and you use that signal to consistently sharpen product direction and stay ahead of market shifts.
  • Demonstrated product strategy and prioritization skills — you own roadmaps end-to-end, make rigorous evidence-based tradeoffs, and communicate prioritization decisions clearly to stakeholders at all levels, including when the answer is no.
  • Strong execution and delivery track record — you drive the full product lifecycle from conceptualization through go-to-market and post-launch iteration, partnering closely with Engineering and Design to ship on predictable cadences and land successfully in market.
  • Effective cross-functional leadership — you align Engineering, Design, and GTM teams around a shared product vision, influence without authority, and foster collaboration and accountability across disciplines.
  • Experience managing and developing Product Owners or similar product team members — you set clear expectations, hold a high bar for quality, and actively invest in growing your reports as product professionals.
  • Genuine commitment to continuous learning across both domain knowledge and product craft — you stay current on changes to tax law, insurance regulations, and planning best practices, and you approach your work with the curiosity and rigor of a practitioner, not just a builder.

The expected compensation range for this role is a $150k-$170k + annual bonus target.

Lesser experience may result in lower compensation and greater experience may result in greater compensation than the stated range.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
