Join the Tilt team

At Tilt (formerly Empower), we see a side of people that traditional lenders miss. Our mobile-first products and machine learning-powered credit models look beyond outdated credit scores, using over 250 real-time financial signals to recognize real potential. Named among the next billion-dollar startups, we're not just changing how people access financial products — we're creating a new credit system that backs the working, whatever they're working toward.

The opportunity: Lead Product Manager, Core

Our mission is to expand access to credit to give anyone the opportunity to improve their financial stability and mobility. We need someone to lead our subscription product (retention/billing plus automated savings, budgeting, credit score monitoring, checking, and more) and amplify further how well we live that today (crafting new products, embedding new experiences).

How you'll make an impact
  • You’ll expand the depth and breadth for how Tilt provides value to its customers. You’ll establish the roadmap and strategy surrounding non-lending products at Tilt, outlining what we should (and shouldn’t) build, defining our target customer, and growing usage therein.

  • You’ll own the core app experience and build frameworks and structures that enable Product, Credit, and Data Science peers to achieve their user and business goals.

  • You lead the user definition for our US business: needs, personas, segments are identified through user research you’re leading. You champion user expression across other teams.

  • You’ll put in place a culture of measurement, iteration, and continuous improvement in your product area — establishing dashboards, feedback loops, and ongoing optimization.

  • You’ll build a culture around high-impact, reliable delivery for you and your team.

Why you're a great fit
  • Solve problems like a GM — you’re able to balance short-term impact vs. long-term investment, set trade-offs, and align stakeholders. You’re comfortable both to get your hands dirty and deliver immediate change and to elevate and plan for quarters in advance.

  • Demonstrated record of shipping high-value product experiences — 6+ years of product management experience, with at least 2+ years leading delightful consumer products and/or complex financial products.

  • Obsessed about our user — you confidently run user research, pair with design, and express the user perspective in your delivery. You set the standard for how Tilt speaks about and brings the user to life.

  • Analytically exceptional — you’re confident working with SQL + collaborating closely with Data Science and ML teams to uncover insights and validate hypotheses.

  • ML/AI-native — you’re considerate with how AI influences both what we can deliver to our customers and how we achieve it

  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) — able to craft narratives, roadmaps, and align cross-functional teams.

Don’t meet every qualification? We care about potential over your past. If you're bringing ambition and drive to what we're building, we want to hear from you.

What you'll get at Tilt
  • Virtual-first teamwork: The Tilt team is collaborating across 14 countries, 12 time zones, and counting. You’ll get started with a WFH office reimbursement.

  • Competitive pay: We're big on potential, and it's reflected in our competitive compensation packages and generous equity.

  • Complete support: Find flexible health plans at every premium level, and substantial subsidies that stand up to global standards.

  • Visibility is yours: You can count on direct exposure to our leadership team — we’re a team where good ideas travel quickly.

  • Paid global onsites: Magic happens IRL: we gather twice yearly to reconnect over shared meals or kayaking adventures. (We’ve visited Vail, San Diego, and Mexico City, to name a few.)

  • Impact is recognized: Growth opportunities follow your contributions, not rigid promotion timelines.

The Tilt Way

We're looking for people who chase excellence and impact. Those who stand behind their work, celebrating the wins and learning from the missteps equally. We foster an environment where every voice is valued and mutual respect is non-negotiable — brilliant jerks need not apply. We're in this together, working to expand access to fair credit and prove that people are incredible. When you join us, it's not just another day at the [virtual] office, you're helping millions of hardworking people reach better financial futures.

You’re pushing ahead in your career? We can get behind that. Join us in building the credit system that people deserve.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
