Kettle is a team of passionate creatives focused on delivering great products, redefining best-practices, and providing new opportunities for our clients.

We are looking for a Lead Interaction Designer to join one of our largest accounts. In this role, you’ll shepherd the product vision, design new features, and enhance existing ones while establishing scalable UX/UI patterns across platforms. As a Lead, you’ll have the opportunity to own distinct workstreams as part of the larger account, partner with other designers, and work directly with clients to solve their design challenges.

Candidates should have:

  • Interaction or product design experience in agency or related environments designing iOS native applications and websites
  • Experience delivering user-focused solutions in high-complexity categories (financial services, telco, consumer tech, etc.)
  • Experience leading workstreams (with the support of Directors), giving direction to others, and making decisions based on collective input and feedback
  • A clear communication style, with the ability to present design work internally and to senior level clients
  • Experience working in agile product design/development models.
  • Experience working with AI in your design process, either through side projects or client work
  • Experience with enterprise-scale design systems

We’d like to know that you can:

  • Design creative product experiences from initial concepting through detailed design and collaboration with development
  • Deliver on multiple aspects of design, including visual design, UI, and UX, producing deliverables such as high-fidelity prototypes, production-ready designs, annotations, design systems, wireframes, and other deliverables
  • Solve complex experience challenges while delivering beautiful, usable interfaces
  • Work independently on projects with the guidance of your design director, leading distinct workstreams within your design pod
  • Partner with teammates of different disciplines including product management, production, and development
  • Work on a client-facing embedded team, building strong client relationships with a solid understanding of their business needs, goals, and how those intersect with the consumer’s experience
  • Adapt to different working styles and processes, from data-driven optimization to blue sky visioning
  • Embrace challenges and proactively ideate with fellow teammates and clients

The target range of base compensation for this role is $145 - 165k. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and location.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
