The Opportunity
The Operational Risk Management Lead Consultant will execute the ORM risk function by overseeing implementation of MetLife's Non-Financial Risk Management Framework for the Group Benefits business. ORM collaborates across Global Risk Management and actively engages business leaders, technology, operations, compliance, and first-line control functions to maintain an ongoing view of operational risk for the business, escalate potential concerns, and drive risk mitigation activities.
This position will play a key role in establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships while implementing an ongoing operating model to proactively identify, monitor, and manage operational risks in support of business strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide risk governance oversight, ensuring compliance with risk management frameworks, policies, and risk appetite standards.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to business leaders by identifying emerging risks, providing risk insights, and supporting informed decision-making.
- Partner with business and control functions to design, implement, and monitor risk mitigation strategies, analytics, and risk tolerance measures.
- Lead risk assessment activities, including monitoring risk events, issues, remediation efforts, and key risk/performance indicators.
- Strengthen and operationalize risk management practices through consistent processes, training, stakeholder engagement, and integration of emerging technologies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with 7-10 years of experience in risk management, internal audit, control management, operations, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of the life insurance industry, risk management frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
- Proven understanding of operational risk frameworks, control environments, and risk mitigation practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- Demonstrated ability to influence, collaborate with, and build partnerships with senior stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with risk analytics, reporting, dashboards, and data-driven risk insights.
- Knowledge of insurance or financial services regulatory requirements and industry expectations.
- Exposure to emerging risk areas such as AI, automation, and digital transformation; professional certifications (CRMA, FRM, CPA, CIA, or equivalent) preferred.
