As a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer at Honeywell Aerospace, you will play a critical role in leading and overseeing the mechanical design process to develop innovative and efficient mechanical solutions for our products and systems. You will be responsible for providing technical expertise, guidance, and mentorship to the mechanical design team, ensuring the successful execution of projects and the delivery of high-quality designs.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
- Design and analysis (thermal, structural, weight, tolerance) using finite element analysis and classical hand calculation methods
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training to junior engineers
- Task and schedule planning as lead for mechanical design, tooling, and documentation
- Project coordination
- Project and product compliance to specification, schedule, and cost
- Collaborate with and/or direct machinists, technicians, assemblers, and suppliers to execute hardware builds and tests
- Process development and continuous improvement
- Root cause and corrective action
- Conduct design reviews, generate and review Engineering Change Orders (ECO), participate as a member of Configuration Control Board (CCB)
- Generate basis of estimates for bids and technical proposals
YOU MUST HAVE
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics
- Minimum of 8 years of experience designing and performing structural and thermo-mechanical analysis on electro-mechanical packaging
- Proficiency in static, fatigue (HCF & LCF), modal, shock, random vibration & thermal heat transfer analyses
- Strong working knowledge of finite element software (ANSYS, Simcenter, SolidWorks) & classical hand calculation methods

- Minimum of 10 years of experience designing and performing structural and thermo-mechanical analysis on electro-mechanical packaging in aerospace and defense
- Practical knowledge of finite element analysis software (ANSYS, Simcenter, SolidWorks)

- Significant experience with new product development and operations sustainment
- Ability to analyze and solve complex and challenging problems

The annual base salary range for this position in California is $143,000-158,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
