Founded in 2020 with office hubs in San Francisco, New York City, Austin, Chicago, and London, our team thinks big and moves fast, and we're looking for smart, hardworking builders and scalers to join us on our journey to create a better future of work with AI.

📐 About the role

Are you ready to be at the forefront of the generative AI revolution and shape how enterprises learn to harness its power? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment where your creativity and design expertise can transform the future of AI education? If you're a leader in crafting world-class, visually stunning learning experiences and you're passionate about pioneering the next generation of AI enablement, we want to hear from you!

At WRITER, we're on a mission to empower our customers and partners to become leaders in enterprise generative AI through cutting-edge, interactive learning experiences that blend the best of live and on-demand formats. We're looking for a visionary lead learning experience designer who can bring their innovative ideas, modern-design sensibilities, and polished execution to the table, helping us define what world-class AI education looks like.

This is a hybrid role based in our San Francisco or New York City office hubs and will report to our senior director of customer & partner education

🦸🏻‍♀️ What you'll do

  • Craft engaging learning pathways: develop comprehensive on-demand learning pathways that equip our customers to lead in the transformative world of enterprise generative AI.

  • Design dynamic, visually compelling experiences: create a diverse range of cutting-edge learning experiences—from motion graphics and interactive video to animated explainers and immersive on-demand skills courses—tailored for self-service, live, and virtual instructor-led training.

  • Collaborate across teams: work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance and expand our existing educational offerings, ensuring they meet the unique needs of our AI-focused customers and partners who are driving enterprise transformation.

  • Identify and address gaps: continuously assess our learning materials to identify areas for improvement and develop innovative, visually engaging solutions that keep pace with the rapidly evolving AI landscape.

  • Empathize and advocate: understand the challenges our customers and partners face as they navigate the generative AI revolution and champion new, exciting opportunities to accelerate their growth through education.

  • Leverage research-informed strategies: apply the latest research-informed learning design principles and UX best practices to create learning experiences that are not only engaging, but also effective, data-driven, and specifically designed for skill transfer.

  • Foster a culture of assessment: build a robust feedback and assessment system to inform and refine our learning programs, ensuring they deliver measurable impact in AI adoption and mastery.

⭐️ What you need

  • Expertise in research-informed learning design: you're a seasoned designer with a proven track record of creating creative, visually polished, and meaningful learning experiences grounded in research-informed learning principles, backwards design and modern UX—and you're excited about applying these skills to the frontier of enterprise AI.

  • Experience in customer education: you have 8+ years experience developing on-demand, VILT and ILT learning experiences (scripts and self-serve interactive resources as well as on-demand solutions with a combination of media, including text, graphics, animation, audio, and video).

  • Generative AI passion and proficiency: you're not just comfortable with generative AI—you're energized by it. You're eager to not only drive learning outcomes that help enterprises unlock the full potential of AI, and you have a keen interest in building with and staying at the cutting edge of A tooling for learning development..

  • Relationship builder: you're confident and adept at building strong relationships with stakeholders and program managers, rallying teams around the vision of world-class AI education.

  • Tool proficiency: you have advanced experience with design, graphics, video and authoring tools, particularly Adobe Creative Cloud, FIgma and Parta.io (course development).

  • Iterative mindset: you're comfortable with experimentation, iteration, and a fast-paced environment, always striving for continuous improvement as the AI landscape evolves.

  • Agility in ambiguity: you thrive designing for a fast-moving AI product where features evolve weekly, not quarterly. You're energized by pivoting quickly between modalities (on-demand, live, quick-reference), and iterating based on real-time feedback rather than following rigid, prescriptive learning roadmaps.

  • Builder mindset over templates: you excel at rapid prototyping (often from a blank canvas) over extensive upfront planning.

  • Self-awareness and growth: you prioritize self-awareness, feedback, and personal growth, and you enjoy leading the way in process and project organization as we pioneer new approaches to AI education.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
