Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and own image quality features by working with cross-functional teams (customers, clinical apps, marketing, regulatory, engineering, etc.) to understand user needs and workflow, effectively creating design definitions and requirements. Following through on implementation, integration, verification and product release into the field.
  • Develop, optimize and/or integrate traditional and AI based image processing algorithms
  • Test and characterize component features that impact image quality. Create and present Technical Design Reviews (TDR) to share design process and risk retirement, incorporating critical feedback for effective designs.
  • Develop initial prototypes, perform tests to characterize performance, gather clinical feedback as needed, summarize and review results with other engineers
  • Develop requirements, design, verification, technical reviews, and other technical documentation. Execute verification tests as required.
  • Own and/or support root cause investigation of issues for released and unreleased products. Provide Installed Based customer support.
  • Develop methods to quantify subsystem interactions and their effects on image quality
  • Provide domain expertise to serve as the main integrator between hardware and software to deliver the best image quality in X-ray products.
  • Work independently and possess a level of functional expertise necessary to influence and execute technical and project delivery execution
  • Own the technologies that support competitive technical differentiation
  • Support mentoring of junior technical talent

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or closely related discipline and 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in the use of software tools for analysis, simulation, and user interface development (MATLAB, Python, etc.).
  • Proven ability to develop timely and effective solutions for challenging design problems.
  • Effective communication skills and boundary-less behavior—ability to present ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated ability to pursue tasks to completion. High Ownership
  • Broad exposure to HW/SW/Systems design, and technical depth in one or more engineering disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, Software, etc.) and/or in Physics/Math.
  • On Site at Waukesha, WI

Desired Characteristics:

  • Masters/PhD in in “STEM” majors (Physics, Technology, Engineering and Math).
  • Prior working experience and understanding of X-ray detectors and X-Ray physics.
  • Proficient in using software tools to perform image processing algorithm design, image analysis and simulations (Linux).
  • Experience in medical image processing, algorithm development, and algorithm configuration optimization for medical X-Ray images.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter, energizing, results oriented and able to multi-task.
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability and results orientation.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
