About Embrace Finance Group

Embrace Finance Group, the financial-services division of Embrace Software Inc., helps every institution - from regional banks to local credit unions - deliver the speed, intelligence and experience customers now expect in a digital world. Today we serve nearly 450 financial institutions and hundreds of local government agencies.

We are building an AI-led unified financial services platform spanning digital banking, document automation, item processing and branch modernization, engineered in partnership with the Embrace AI Group. The next generation of our online banking solution is a cornerstone of that platform - and this role will lead it.

The Role

We are hiring a Lead Engineer/ Architect (.NET), a hands-on technical leader who will accelerate the build-out of the next generation of our online banking platform for US Banks and credit unions on ASP.NET Core and C#. You will spend a significant portion of your time writing production code and owning architecture, while also mentoring engineers and setting the technical bar.

You will partner day-to-day with Finance Group technology leaders on product and delivery, the Embrace Technology group on shared architecture, cloud and DevOps standards and Venture Labs / the Embrace AI Group to bring emerging capabilities into the platform.

At its core this is a forward-deployed engineering (FDE) practice with an AI-first, new-product mandate. You will embed with financial institutions and internal product partners, turn ambiguous problems into shipped product and lead a small team of highly empowered, highly skilled engineers who take ideas from conceptualization to launch in weeks - not quarters. You will go full-stack from modern UX/UI through public REST APIs down to a .NET control plane and treat large language models and agentic AI services as first-class building blocks of the platform rather than bolt-ons.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architect and hands-on build the new ASP.NET Core / C# online banking platform - system design, service boundaries, data modeling and API contracts.
  • Design and implement critical features and platform components; lead code and design reviews, setting the technical bar.
  • Lead and mentor a small agile team - run sprints, unblock engineers, own delivery commitments, coach through 1:1s and pair programming.
  • Partner with Finance Group technology leaders, product, QA and security to translate business and regulatory needs into robust solutions.
  • Collaborate with the Embrace Technology group on shared architecture, cloud and CI/CD standards and with Venture Labs / Embrace AI Group to embed AI capabilities (AI-assisted dev, predictive insights, fraud/risk monitoring) into the platform.
  • Drive engineering best practices - testing, CI/CD and adoption of modern AI dev tools.
  • Operate as a forward-deployed engineer - embed with internal product partners to co-design solutions, then rapidly conceptualize, prototype and launch new products, compressing concept-to-production from quarters to weeks.
  • Lead AI-first, new-product development end-to-end - design and ship LLM- and agent-powered capabilities using services such as Google Vertex AI / Gemini, OpenAI (and Azure OpenAI) and orchestration frameworks like LangChain, with disciplined evaluation, guardrails and cost / latency management.
  • Build full-stack and real-time - modern, accessible UX/UI, public REST APIs and live experiences via SignalR on .NET Core / C# control plane, with event-driven services through Azure Service Bus / messaging, etc.
  • Own the cloud and delivery foundation - infrastructure-as-code with Terraform, CI/CD on GitHub (Actions) and containerized, repeatable deployments across Azure and/or AWS.
  • Engineer security and compliance in by design - identity and access management (OAuth2 / OIDC, SSO, MFA), secrets management and data protection aligned to PCI DSS, SOC 2 and FFIEC, with auditability from day one.
  • Build and empower the team - recruit, coach and unblock a small squad of progressive FDEs, giving them the autonomy, tooling and technical bar to ship safely and fast.
How We Work - Forward-Deployed & AI-First
  • Small, empowered squads: highly skilled FDEs own outcomes end-to-end, from conceptualization to launch, with minimal hand-offs.
  • AI-first by default: LLMs, RAG and agentic workflows are first-class both as design tools and as product capabilities - we prototype with AI, evaluate rigorously and ship.
  • Fast and safe: short iteration loops, trunk-based development, automated testing, infrastructure-as-code and progressive delivery behind feature flags.
  • Polyglot pragmatism: .NET / C# anchors the control plane; we use the best-fit language or service elsewhere and optimize for outcomes, not dogma.
Our Stack & Tooling
  • Control plane & services: .NET (ASP.NET Core, C#), public REST APIs, SignalR for real-time, Azure Service Bus for messaging and eventing.
  • AI & LLM: Google Vertex AI / Gemini, OpenAI / Azure OpenAI, LangChain and similar orchestration; vector stores, RAG, plus evaluation and guardrail tooling.
  • Cloud & platform: Azure and/or AWS, Terraform for IaC, GitHub + GitHub Actions for CI/CD and containers.
  • Front-end: modern, accessible UX/UI (Angular / React).
  • Identity, security & compliance: IAM (OAuth2 / OIDC, SSO, MFA), secrets management, PCI DSS, SOC 2 and FFIEC.
  • Data: Microsoft SQL Server today, with modern data stores adopted as the platform evolves.

Requirements
  • 5+ years building modern, data-intensive .NET web applications, with a proven tech-lead / lead-developer track record and direct team ownership.
  • Polyglot. Expert-level C# and .NET (Framework and modern .NET / Core); strong SQL and Microsoft SQL Server; solid REST API experience at scale.
  • Proven experience in financial services / online banking, with strong preference for platforms serving US Banks, credit unions, or other regulated FIs.
  • Front-end experience with modern Javascript/UI frameworks like Angular / React. Familiarity with classic frameworks like ASP.NET, Razor templates, Htmx, Bootstrap, Orchard Core, etc is a strong plus for modernizing.
  • Experience with cloud (Azure, AWS), DevOps and CI/CD; understanding of US banking security and compliance (PCI DSS, SOC 2, FFIEC guidance).
  • Strong communicator across engineering and business stakeholders (Finance Group, Embrace Technology, Venture Labs); excellent ownership and problem-solving.
  • Comfortable in a highly remote, fast-paced, agile environment. Bachelor's in CS, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Demonstrated 0→1 product delivery at speed - ideally in a forward-deployed, customer-embedded, or startup / venture environment.
  • Hands-on AI/LLM application development - prompt and context engineering, RAG and agentic patterns on at least one major platform (Vertex AI / Gemini, OpenAI, or Azure OpenAI) with orchestration such as LangChain and a pragmatic grasp of evaluation, guardrails and cost.
  • Real-time and event-driven experience - SignalR, Azure Service Bus or equivalent messaging - and public REST API design at scale.
  • Strong platform / DevOps depth - Terraform (IaC), GitHub Actions CI/CD, containerization and multi-cloud (Azure and/or AWS).
  • Identity, security and compliance depth for regulated FIs - IAM / OAuth2 / OIDC, SSO / MFA, secrets management and PCI DSS / SOC 2 / FFIEC.

Benefits
  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience; 100% remote with autonomy.
  • Career advancement across the Embrace portfolio; the chance to shape a platform used by hundreds of US banks and credit unions with the Embrace AI Group and Venture Labs.
  • A high-autonomy, AI-first engineering culture where small teams of empowered FDEs take ideas from concept to launch - and see them used by hundreds of US banks and credit unions.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
