Position Summary

We are seeking a Lead Domain Architect to serve as the operational counterpart to the Principal Architect, responsible for executing architecture across the Medicare Sales & Acquisition ecosystem. This role translates strategic architecture into implementable designs across domain, application, and data layers, ensuring delivery teams build scalable, compliant, and cloud-aligned solutions.

This role focuses on service decomposition, API architecture, and cloud implementation, enabling modular, reusable capabilities that support omnichannel engagement, broker enablement, and direct-to-consumer experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Domain & Application Architecture

Own detailed architecture across sales, enrollment, broker, and engagement domains. Decompose capabilities into modular services aligned to Tier 1-3 domain models, ensuring clear service boundaries and reusability.

  • Microservices & API Architecture

Define and enforce microservice design and API-first principles. Establish functional API patterns (aggregation/orchestration), service contracts, and versioning standards to ensure scalability and maintainability.

  • Cloud Architecture Implementation

Translate cloud strategy into deployable patterns across AWS (or equivalent), including compute, storage, and event-driven architectures. Ensure solutions meet performance, resiliency, and AEP-scale requirements.

  • Data Strategy & Integration

Define canonical data models, system-of-record ownership, and integration patterns (event-driven and request/response). Ensure interoperability across platforms while preventing data duplication and point-to-point integrations.

  • Governance & Standards Enforcement

Act as design authority for delivery teams. Conduct architecture reviews, enforce compliance with architectural standards, and provide corrective direction where solutions deviate from defined patterns.

  • Platform Rationalization

Evaluate platforms and services for coupling, scalability, and cost. Support reduction of redundant capabilities and enforce separation between system of experience and system of record.

  • Execution Support to Principal Architect

Operate as a direct delegate for deep architectural work, artifact creation, and cross-team alignment. Own execution of architectural decisions and ensure follow-through across teams.
Required Qualifications

  • 8–12+ years in software architecture or senior engineering roles

  • Strong experience in domain-based architecture and service decomposition

  • Proven delivery of microservices and API-first architectures

  • Experience with cloud-native architectures (AWS preferred)

  • Knowledge of distributed systems, scalability, and integration patterns

  • Experience in regulated environments (healthcare, financial services, etc.)

  • Strong ability to influence engineering teams and enforce architectural standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with event-driven architectures and real-time data processing

  • Familiarity with multi-cloud environments and API management platforms

  • Background in healthcare benefits, sales, or customer acquisition systems

  • Certifications: AWS/Azure Architect or equivalent

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

  • Master’s degree preferred

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
