Opportunity Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Data Architect to join our team. This role is ideal for an architect who excels in designing enterprise grade data platforms, modern data ecosystems, and interoperability frameworks, especially in healthcare and other regulated environments. As a senior member of the architecture organization, you will define and evolve the data strategy, ensuring our cloud-native, AI enabled platforms are built for long term scalability, reliability, and industry standard compliance.

What you’ll do:

  • Data Architecture: Develop a compliance-first architecture roadmap guiding product teams to build solutions aligned with regulatory and governance standards.
  • Data Modeling & Design: Drive data modeling standards, review critical designs to ensure robust, scalable, and well-governed data structures.
  • Security & Compliance: Embed regulatory compliance (HIPAA, FHIR, HL7) and security principles into platform design. 
  • Leadership: Mentor engineers on data modeling, optimization techniques, schema design, and best practices for high-volume data systems.

What you’ll need:

  • 8+ years of progressive experience across data architecture, data engineering, or platform architecture.
  • Broad command of the modern data stack, spanning AWS data services (S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift), workflow orchestration (Airflow), and transformation frameworks (dbt)
  • Strong data-modeling expertise across SQL and NoSQL databases, including schema design, indexing, and performance optimization.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross functionally across geographies and time zones.

💻 Fully remote opportunity with about 5% travel

The salary range for this position is $155,000 to $175,000 annually; as part of a total benefits package which includes health insurance, 401k and bonus. In accordance with state applicable laws, Cohere is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Individual pay decisions are ultimately based on a number of factors, including but not limited to qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and internal alignment.
