Backed by WndrCo, Warburg Pincus and General Catalyst, Point Wild is dedicated to creating the world’s most comprehensive portfolio of industry-leading cybersecurity solutions. Our vision is to become THE go-to resource for every cyber protection need individuals may face - today and in the future.

Join us for the ride!

About the Role

At Point Wild, we’re building the future of digital security — and that means preparing for the quantum era. Our Innovation team is developing cutting-edge, AI-powered, quantum-safe technologies to secure people’s digital lives now and in the post-quantum world.

We’re seeking a hands-on cryptography expert to join a small, high-caliber team focused on solving advanced security challenges. The role involves designing, evaluating, and integrating cryptographic systems in complex technical environments. This is a position for someone who enjoys deep technical work and understands the real-world limits of cryptographic tools.

Day-to-Day

  • Review and analyze cryptographic usage across systems (e.g., algorithms, key sizes, libraries, protocols)
  • Evaluate and integrate modern cryptographic primitives, including post-quantum algorithms
  • Define cryptographic policies and assist in building logic to enforce or validate conformance
  • Contribute to tooling that inspects, refactors, or augments cryptographic implementations in codebases and environments
  • Collaborate with engineers across AI, infrastructure, and product to implement practical solutions at scale
  • Stay informed on evolving cryptographic standards, migration strategies, and risk models

What You Bring to the Table

  • Deep knowledge of applied cryptography, including symmetric and asymmetric primitives, TLS, key exchange, and signatures
  • Familiarity with cryptographic libraries (e.g., OpenSSL, BoringSSL, liboqs, PQClean)
  • Experience working with post-quantum cryptographic primitives (e.g., Kyber, Dilithium)
  • Experience in secure protocol design, key management systems, or cryptographic audits
  • Strong software development background (e.g., Python, Rust, C++, Go)
  • Ability to navigate between low-level implementation and high-level system architecture

Extra Credit

  • Exposure to hybrid crypto schemes and transitional approaches (e.g., hybrid TLS modes)
  • Understanding of compliance frameworks that regulate cryptographic standards (e.g., NIST, CNSA, ISO)
  • Prior work in cloud security, secure enclaves, binary instrumentation, or static/dynamic analysis

As part of Point Wild, you will:

Solve real customer problems. Point Wild’s point solutions allow consumers to address their immediate cyber protection needs. Our mandate is to continuously anticipate our customers’ evolving digital security needs to create best-in-class solutions aimed at keeping them safe.

See your impact. We are a scrappy, nimble organization where individual contributions are needed and valued. You will see your impact every day.

Accelerate your career.  As we expand, you will have the opportunity to learn new technologies, products, and markets in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Most importantly, you’ll get to work with other talented people at a company where people matter. If you want to put your fingerprint on an organization and leapfrog your growth, this is the place for you.

In keeping with our beliefs and goals, no employee or applicant will face discrimination or harassment based on race, color, ancestry, national origin, religion, age, gender, marital domestic partner status, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability status, or veteran status. Above and beyond discrimination or harassment based on “protected categories,” Point Wild is committed to being an inclusive community where all feel welcome. Whether blatant or hidden, barriers to success have no place at Point Wild.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
