The Lead Combat Designer will oversee combat gameplay features from concept to implementation, mentor designers, and collaborate with teams to meet milestones on combat content and mechanics.

- Drive combat gameplay features and content from initial concepts through specs, hands-on implementation, iteration and completion.
- Vision holder of our Player 3Cs and combat mechanics.
- Vision holder of high-level combat gameplay goals.
- Work closely with production partners and other leads to create road maps and milestone / sprints goals for combat features and content.
- Represent the combat team to various disciplines as the go-to-person.
- Hands-on design and implementation of features and content and set examples for other combat designers to follow.
- Mentor and manage combat designers.
- 10+ years of experience in combat design, including senior, principle or lead experience.
- Extensive experience in tuning and balancing firearms.
- Extensive experience and grasp at crafting melee combat gameplay, animation timing and feel.
- Extensive experience in design, implementation, troubleshoot and tuning of Player 3Cs, traversal and combat mechanics.
- Extensive experience in design, implementation, troubleshoot and tuning of enemy combatants and AI behaviors.
- Fluency with Unreal Editor and Blueprint scripting; text-based scripting experience is a plus.
- Experienced collaborating with animators to create gameplay friendly animations that strike the right balance between fidelity, fluidity and responsiveness.
- Experience in designing combat gameplay based on mo-cap performances; experience in directing mo-cap performance is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey difficult and abstract concepts to all disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Possess an extensive knowledge of competing products and a deep understanding of the complex overlap between combat and open world gameplay systems.
- Shipped at least one AAA title from inception to finish.
- Experience working effectively with globally distributed team members/partners across cultures, borders, languages and time zones.

US-California-Los AngelesThe expected base pay range for this position in the location(s) listed above is $105,300.00 to $198,000.00 per year. Actual pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Employees hired for this position may be eligible for a sign on payment, relocation package, and restricted stock units, which will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Subject to the terms and conditions of the plans in effect, hired applicants are also eligible for medical, dental, vision, life and disability benefits, and participation in the Company’s 401(k) plan. The Employee is also eligible for up to 15 to 25 days of vacation per year (depending on the employee’s tenure), up to 13 days of holidays throughout the calendar year, and up to 10 days of paid sick leave per year. Your benefits may be adjusted to reflect your location, employment status, duration of employment with the company, and position level.
