Position Overview

The Lead Category Manager, Personal Finance will drive revenue and growth for our emerging Personal Finance products being built for the 240 million users that come to Yahoo every month. Personal Finance is in the early stages of creating a full suite of products to better inform their financial decisions and our traffic and revenue is growing rapidly. You will lead our efforts to grow traffic to our properties, optimize the performance of those pages and work both internally and externally to manage the systems and partnerships that drive our revenue. You will lead our efforts in Banking, Mortgage, Insurance and other Personal Finance categories while working closely with existing efforts in Credit Cards. This is a role that will require a data-first orientation and an exceptional attention to detail, combined with high-level strategic vision, a strong bias towards action and pragmatic execution. 

This is a hybrid in-office role located in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Traffic growth: Work closely with Editorial and SEO teams to identify areas to grow traffic whether through optimizing existing content or identifying new content. While SEO is a large driver, you will also look to leverage other channels including, but not limited to Internal Yahoo traffic, Video or emerging channels.

  • Monetization optimization: You will coordinate with Editorial, Product and Engineering to design and test on-page revenue optimization. This may involve developing new promotional units, exploring different placements or finding new surfaces.

  • Partnerships and infrastructure support: Lead efforts across Yahoo to identify traffic sources through Mail, Home Page, Sports, etc. Work with both Yahoo Finance and other Yahoo teams on core infrastructure elements required to deliver maximum revenue. Collaborate with outside partners to identify, test, onboard, and optimize revenue opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years experience as a Category Manager with a strong track record of revenue optimization and crisp execution.

  • Highly analytical, strong command of data tools and precise attention to detail

  • Deeply interested and knowledgeable about FinTech products while understanding user needs and interests across a variety of consumer financial products: credit cards, mortgages, checking & savings, personal loans, insurance, etc.

  • Understanding of marketplace dynamics across various Personal Finance verticals

  • Partner closely with ad sales, SEO, design, engineering, and content to shape new products and ensure continued success of existing products.

  • Effectively balance short-term goals and needs with long term ambitions.

  • Able to communicate concisely combined with an eagerness to communicate readily

  • Knowledgeable about SEO

The compensation for this position ranges from $122,250.00 - $255,000.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
