About the team and the role:

Join eBay’s Buyer Experience team as a Lead Android Software Engineer. Collaborate closely with other native developers in an agile workflow to enhance user experience through innovative initiatives. Engage directly with product, design, and analytics teams, creating impactful solutions while enjoying a supportive team culture that values work/life balance. This role offers the chance to report to senior technical leaders and drive significant contributions to eBay’s success.

What you will accomplish:

  • Develop and deliver high-quality Android applications, ensuring reliable and efficient performance.

  • Maintain and optimize app performance by actively identifying and implementing improvements.

  • Foster technical leadership by encouraging and guiding your team and colleagues towards sound technical decisions.

  • Improve collaboration and efficiency across cross-functional teams through effective communication and innovative problem-solving.

  • Provide mentorship and contribute to team growth by sharing knowledge and standard methodologies.

  • Drive the design and execution of the engineering roadmap, resolving key system issues and gaps.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in EE, CS, or a related field.

  • 10+ years of experience in designing, building, and releasing Android applications, with deep expertise in Kotlin and Java.

  • Proficiency in testing methodologies including JUnit and Espresso, and experience with dependency injection using Dagger or Hilt.

  • Advanced skills in modern design patterns such as MVP, MVVM, and experience with Jetpack libraries.

  • Mastery in advanced Kotlin language features and Android APIs, and authoring shared libraries.

  • Strong debugging skills and experience with Android CI/CD processes.

Location expectations are for Portland, with potential for travel and cross-team collaboration

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:

$132,000 - $222,100

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
