Job Description:
Project-Based Position: This is a project-based position with an anticipated duration of 8+ months.
Location: On-site Los Angeles, CA
Compensation:
The hourly rate for this position is starting at $37.25 Compensation may vary based on location and experience.
Job Summary:
The Laydown Manager is the primary point of contact for all operations and logistics at the jobsite laydown yard, which acts as a distribution center for all assets and goods related to our installation. The Laydown manager will report to the Director of Corporate Facilities and Logistics and work closely with the Logistics Manager daily. The Laydown manager is responsible for the daily operations of the Laydown, which includes but is not limited to opening and closing, managing access, receiving deliveries, tracking all assets in our internal databases, and communicating with all stakeholders as needed to schedule deliveries to and from the site. The Laydown Manager is responsible for designating workspace and storage to all users of the Laydown and tertiary storage areas. The Laydown Manager, in coordination with the Logistics Manager and the Director of Facilities and Logistics, will be the point of contact for vendors, our general contractor, and MW internal teams. The Laydown Manager oversees the Logistics Associates to ensure seamless movement of goods and support of our teams companywide.
Key Responsibilities:
Will be the primary point of contact on-site for all stakeholders involved in the overall project.
Performs all computer functions necessary to track various aspects of goods using internal database software. Responsible for auditing, quality control, and reporting of damaged goods.
Responsible for weekly expense reporting and responsible management of the company credit card, and will communicate all purchases in advance to the Logistics Manager/Director
Reports daily KPIs to Logistics Manager
They will also be responsible for operating company vehicles and aiding in the transportation of assets from our storage areas and facilities to the laydown.
Manages the receiving and shipping process for all assets arriving and leaving the storage facility. This includes but is not limited to data entry, photography, impeccable organization, and communication.
Is responsible for the upkeep and weekly cleaning of the laydown areas, storage areas, and the inventorying of Logistics supplies, as well as following prescribed MW safety regulations.
Stays in constant communication with the Logistics Associates as well as the onsite staff to ensure timely deliveries and up-to-date information.
Is responsible for leading daily standup with onsite Logistics staff as well as attending the daily MW team standup.
Operates material handling equipment or hand trucks to convey, move, or hoist materials. Utilizes tools and materials such as a steel bander and stretch wrap safely and efficiently.
Required Qualifications
Experience in a managerial role overseeing a team
Experience managing or marshalling a laydown or distribution site
Excellent time management skills
Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, and has experience working as part of a team
Adaptable to changing needs and tasks
Google Suite proficient
Lift up to 50 lbs
Hold a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
Forklift and other heavy equipment operating experience
Experience fabricating or handling art or other high-value materials
Work Environment and Physical Demands
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed must be representative of the knowledge, skills, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and/or ability required.
Work Environment:
The Laydown Manager works primarily in an outdoor laydown yard and construction or industrial site environment, with frequent exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, uneven terrain, and fluctuating temperatures. The role involves close proximity to heavy machinery, delivery trucks, forklifts, cranes, and other moving equipment, requiring adherence to strict safety protocols. Work areas may include staging zones, material storage yards, loading/unloading areas, jobsite access points, and coordination with warehouse or logistics teams. The position requires ongoing communication with project managers, vendors, drivers, and internal teams to ensure timely material flow. Personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hard hats, safety boots, gloves, and high-visibility vests, is required. The schedule may involve early mornings, extended hours, or weekends to support construction timelines and material delivery windows.
Physical Demands:
This position requires frequent standing, walking long distances across uneven surfaces, bending, reaching, and handling materials throughout the day. The Laydown Manager must regularly lift, move, or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally heavier materials with assistance or mechanical equipment. The role requires the ability to climb ladders, step onto equipment platforms, and inspect materials stored at different heights. Pushing and pulling loaded carts, pallets, or equipment is common, as are repetitive motions related to tagging, labeling, scanning, and documenting materials. The position also requires clear visual inspection of materials, reading labels, and operating handheld scanners, mobile devices, and project management software. Extended periods of walking or standing outdoors may be necessary to monitor site operations and maintain material organization.
The employee will comply with company and OSHA standard workplace safety protocols. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position that requires the ability to work a flexible schedule. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Supervisor Responsibilities:
This position does require supervisory responsibility.
