About Wander

Travel is a $4 trillion industry running on software from the last century. We are fixing that. Wander.com is the leading marketplace for exceptional vacation homes with best-in-category guest satisfaction. WanderOS takes that same battle-tested engine and puts it in the hands of every property manager on Earth: conversion-optimized direct booking websites, automated guest marketing, and AI-powered distribution to millions of travelers. Operators own their brand, their bookings, and their guests. No middlemen.

Wander is led by a second-time founder and an all-star team from companies like Shopify. We are a Series B company gearing up for Series C, and product velocity has gone vertical: AI agents, payments, new distribution channels, and performance products, all shipping on a cadence most companies would call impossible. We call it Tuesday.

Our mission is to help people find their happy place. Our vision is to build the infrastructure for people to experience the world. If you want to make a dent in one of the largest industries on the planet, this is the place.

About the role

WanderOS (wander.com/os) is the operating system for the businesses that run travel, and it is shipping faster than anything in the category. Direct booking websites, guest messaging, pricing, payments, distribution, and the AI agents that are starting to run operations on behalf of property managers all live in one product. The design bar has to keep up with product velocity, and that is where you come in.

As an L6 Senior Product Designer you will own the end-to-end design of core WanderOS workflows, from fuzzy problem to shipped product and the follow-through after launch. You will report directly to Wander's CPO and work shoulder to shoulder with Product, Engineering, and the founder. You sweat the details, you zoom between the holistic view and the operator's view continuously, and you deliver beautiful, useful, usable experiences that people run their businesses on. This is a small team with a huge surface area, so your work will be in front of thousands of operators within weeks, not quarters.

This role is remote across the US or Canada. If you are in Austin or San Francisco, we have offices waiting for you (SF is in the Presidio).

Level: L6 Senior Product Designer

Years of experience set the level. This posting is for L6 Senior:

  • 7 to 8+ years of product design experience shipping software products.
  • You own design end to end: discovery, flows, systems, pixels, and what happens after launch.
  • You navigate high ambiguity, and you mentor mid-level designers.

If you have 10 to 13+ years and define strategy across multiple product pillars, apply to our L7 Staff Product Designer posting instead. Title, scope, and compensation are set by level.

Who you are
  • You have 7 to 8+ years of product design experience, ideally in B2B SaaS, marketplaces, fintech, or operational tools, with a portfolio of shipped products that shows end-to-end ownership, systems thinking, and craft at the pixel level.
  • You have owned at least one complex product or workflow end to end and can show the outcomes.
  • You have a deep technical understanding of how your designs get built. Bonus points if you have built something in code: a side project, a prototype, or a product.
  • You are a systems thinker. You see how the pieces fit together and how an operator's actions play out over weeks and months, not just one screen.
  • You interpret experiments and quantitative data to inform decisions, and you know when to trust the numbers and when to go talk to an operator.
  • You are a practiced communicator and storyteller who can defend a design rationale with reasoning and data.
  • You lead through ambiguity. Give you a messy problem and a deadline and you come back with a plan.
  • You have mentored mid-level designers and raised the bar around you.
  • You have worked with and evolved a design system.
  • You are enthusiastic about using AI to change how products are designed and how operators work.
  • You have deep mastery of Figma and modern prototyping tools, and you adopt new tools fast.
  • Hardcore. You set a high bar, move fast, and ship.
What the job involves
  • Own the end-to-end design of core WanderOS workflows property managers use every day: onboarding, calendar and reservations, pricing, guest communication, payments, and reporting.
  • Turn complex operational problems into simple, fast, obvious interfaces. Our customers run businesses on this software. Every click counts.
  • Own the full process: discovery, flows, wireframes, high-fidelity design, prototypes, and polish through launch.
  • Shape how AI agents show up inside WanderOS: what they do autonomously, how operators supervise them, and how trust is built and kept.
  • Anchor and represent design inside a cross-functional team and take ownership of the design solution for your projects.
  • Grow and maintain the WanderOS design system so the team can ship consistently at ludicrous speed, with patterns for responsive web and mobile that scale across new products as they land.
  • Mentor mid-level designers, give and take critique, and help improve the tools, patterns, and processes the team uses.
  • Talk to operators constantly. Run research, synthesize it, and bring the insight back into the roadmap.
  • Prototype fast, test with real operators, and ship. We would rather learn in a week than debate for a month.
  • Care about outcomes, not just outputs: activation, adoption, retention, and revenue.
Bonus points
  • Experience designing AI-powered products or agentic workflows for business users.
  • Background in travel, hospitality, vacation rentals, property management, or other operational SaaS.
  • Experience with data-heavy interfaces: dashboards, pricing tools, calendars, or financial products.
  • Mobile-first design chops and strong knowledge of native app and mobile web patterns.
Compensation and benefits
  • Base salary: $170,000 to $210,000 USD. This is Series B startup market rate for the L6 Senior level, with placement in the range based on experience and location. Canadian offers are calibrated to local market rates.
  • Meaningful equity. You will own a piece of what you build.
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Remote-first across the US and Canada, with offices in Austin, TX and San Francisco (Presidio) if you want a desk.
Application process

Only applicants who include a design portfolio with their application will be considered. Show us the work.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
