How you’ll CREATE:

  • Initiate, structure, negotiate and draft and review distribution, acquisition, label services, brand partnership and other related contracts, amendments, and related documents
  • Negotiate and communicate deal terms with outside attorneys
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and organized system of digital records
  • Provide reports on contract terms, recoupment, etc. to executives and other senior staff members
  • Route all agreements internally and externally via DocuSign
  • Summarize legal issues and prepare reports for senior attorney review
  • Trademark and copyright registration research
  • Ensure all deadlines and conditions described on contracts are met
  • Communicate with accounting department to track and relay reporting delinquencies timely to licensees and legal as appropriate.
  • Assist with invoice coding using Virgin's internal systems

Bring your VIBE:

  • Fluent in English and Spanish
  • BA/BS degree, JD, and member in good standing of the California state bar or California registered in-house counsel.
  • Two to four years of experience practicing music law. In-house or law firm experience in entertainment law preferred
  • verbal and written communication skills
  • Exhibit a professional demeanor and good judgment
  • Follow up on assignments until completion
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and is resourceful; takes ownership of tasks and projects
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to interact with outside attorneys and executive management
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple assignments; work well under pressure
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively
  • Knowledge of legal requirements involved with contracts
  • Familiarity with copyright and trademark laws
  • Familiarity with brand licensing and royalty accounting procedures
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Extremely detail-oriented, with an ability to spot errors
  • Familiarity with Apple computers and software, mastery of Word, Excel, and Preview/Adobe
  • Can work independently with good judgment
  • Solid research, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Organizes own work, coordinating projects, setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and following up on assignments with a minimum of direction
