Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa is a Jesus Formed Community on Mission.

Community, Formation and Mission are the three main ways that we believe we are to live out our discipleship to Jesus. We believe that through Gospel teaching, training, and resources, God’s people are enabled to take their discipleship into their own hands. We do this by living out the listening, serving, and helping posture of Jesus in our church community.

Calvary Chapel will be engaging in the mission of God to reach those who are far from God and his kingdom by engaging in spiritual formation, practicing the way of Jesus through the spiritual disciplines in community and putting the life of Jesus and the community of the spirit on display through non-threatening exposures to the Jesus community. Formation + Community = Mission

The ministry began with the church located in Costa Mesa, CA and has flourished and expanded into a multifaceted ministry whose influence has reached to the ends of the earth. We have now re-focused as a local Church-centered organization with a goal of forming, resourcing and educating followers of Jesus

The Junior High Ministry Girls’ Lead at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa is responsible to provide leadership and care for Junior High School students. To oversee and cultivate a Gospel-shaped community that is actively committed to the mission of Jesus; of making followers of Jesus, teaching the way of Jesus, and practicing the love of Jesus in the world. The ideal candidate will be a minister of the Gospel in this position and will have a strong relationship with Jesus Christ. Their relationship with Christ will be an example to those they come into contact with.

Responsibilities:

Vision and Discipleship

The JHM Girls Lead at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa is responsible to partner with the JHM Lead in casting and implementing vision and culture for Junior High Ministry (JHM) as a part of CCCM’S Vision and Mission to be a Jesus Formed Community on Mission. She will help carry out that vision with the Junior High Lead through facilitating Sunday and Wednesday gatherings, small groups for discipleship, planning and scheduling joy filled and fun activities throughout the year for connection for and with students, provides one on one connection, care, and discipleship to students, as well as training/recruiting and discipleship for JHM volunteer leaders.

Primary:

Sunday and Wednesday gatherings – Present and prepared to welcome, engage and connect with Junior High students and support volunteers in discipling students.

Weekly CCCM Church staff meeting

JHM Volunteer meetings – Work with JHM pastor on meeting agenda and support volunteers by resourcing and coaching them for effective connection and discipleship with students.

Discipleship – One of the main functions of the girls lead is to model what it means to be a disciple of Jesus and to help others in their own discipleship to Jesus. We believe that this is accomplished first through our being with Jesus, becoming like Jesus and doing what Jesus did. Discipling others is simply inviting them along in this journey of being a disciple of Jesus in these three ways. We believe that discipleship of young adults is most effective by them being seen and being pursued, heard and understood in conversation and deeply listened to in a way that answers their heart cry or need and cared for by resourcing them with tools (Spiritual disciplines, prayer, Bible study, theology, practical care or resources) and connection with the broader church community.

Discipleship for JHM Volunteer Leaders – Our Desire is that the same kind of discipleship would be modeled for our Junior High ministry leader volunteers – being seen and being pursued, heard and understood in conversation and deeply listened to in a way that answers their heart cry or need and cared for by resourcing them with tools (Spiritual disciplines, prayer, Bible study, theology, practical care or resources) and connection with the broader church community.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
