The Wikimedia Foundation is seeking a Japanese-language Creative Copywriter (Contractor) specialized in Marketing to support our Advancement Department during the upcoming Japan fundraising campaign for Wikipedia. This role involves contributing ideas and writing support for banners, email, and other fundraising content. The position is part-time and project-based, with guidance and oversight provided by the Fundraising department's content team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute content ideas for fundraising materials (e.g. banners, email) in Japanese
  • Deliver creative copy in Japanese as assigned and provide back-translations in English
  • Provide review and copyediting support

Required Qualifications

  • Native Japanese, fluent in English
  • Experience writing compelling, audience-oriented copy
  • Experience in marketing required
  • Ability to take feedback and adapt to collaborative, fast-paced workflows
  • Comfortable working in a mission-driven, international environment

The Wikimedia Foundation is a remote-first organization with staff members including contractors based 40+ countries*. Salaries at the Wikimedia Foundation are set in a way that is competitive, equitable, and consistent with our values and culture. The anticipated annual pay range of this position for applicants based within the United States is US$36 per hour to US$56 per hour with multiple individualized factors, including cost of living in the location, being the determinants of the offered pay. For applicants located outside of the US, the pay range will be adjusted to the country of hire. We neither ask for nor take into consideration the salary history of applicants. The compensation for a successful applicant will be based on their skills, experience and location.
