On-Site | Junior-Level Technical Support

Position Summary

Quintessa Marketing is seeking a dependable and service-oriented IT Support Specialist I to provide on-site technical support in a fast-paced, sensitive-data environment. This junior-level position is ideal for someone with foundational IT knowledge, strong problem-solving skills, and a desire to grow professionally.

The successful candidate will work independently, manage tasks at an appropriate pace, and proactively address technical needs. They must be comfortable responding quickly to end-user questions, shifting priorities as circumstances change, and handling confidential information with discretion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly and professionally to help desk requests received through ticketing systems, email, chat, phone, and in-person communication.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve common hardware, software, account-access, connectivity, and peripheral issues.
  • Document support requests, troubleshooting activities, resolutions, and follow-up actions accurately.
  • Prepare, configure, deploy, maintain, and recover computers, mobile devices, peripherals, and other IT equipment.
  • Install, configure, update, and troubleshoot approved applications and operating systems.
  • Support employee onboarding and offboarding, including account setup, hardware preparation, access provisioning, orientation, equipment collection, and documentation.
  • Provide basic administration and end-user support for Google Workspace and Microsoft Azure/Microsoft Entra ID environments.
  • Assist with wired and wireless network troubleshooting, including connectivity, cabling, Wi-Fi, addressing, and basic network-device issues.
  • Assist with security reviews and audits of existing and proposed software, including gathering documentation, confirming configurations, tracking findings, and escalating concerns.
  • Follow established security, privacy, access-control, and data-handling procedures.
  • Maintain accurate hardware, software, licensing, and inventory records.
  • Identify recurring issues and recommend documentation, training, or process improvements.
  • Escalate complex, security-sensitive, or high-impact issues to the appropriate team member.
  • Perform other IT support duties and project work as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Entry-level knowledge of Google Workspace administration and user support.
  • Entry-level knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Entra ID, including basic user, group, authentication, and access concepts.
  • Fundamental understanding of wired and wireless networking concepts.
  • Basic experience troubleshooting computers, operating systems, applications, printers, mobile devices, and common peripherals.
  • Strong customer-service and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to nontechnical users.
  • Ability to respond to end-user questions quickly, professionally, and calmly.
  • Ability to prioritize competing requests and pivot quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-directed work style with the initiative to identify and complete tasks with limited supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation practices.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to handle confidential or sensitive information appropriately.
  • Willingness and ability to work on-site with a flexible schedule based on operational needs, which may occasionally include early, late, or after-hours work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous help desk, desktop support, technical support, or similar professional experience.
  • Associate degree, technical diploma, relevant coursework, or equivalent hands-on experience in information technology or a related field.
  • Familiarity with IT ticketing systems, endpoint-management tools, identity and access management, and hardware inventory systems.
  • Familiarity with security controls, software review processes, audit support, or compliance-driven environments.
  • Entry-level industry certification such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Google Workspace Administrator, or a Microsoft fundamentals certification desired.

Work Environment and Expectations

This is an on-site position that regularly involves direct interaction with employees and company technology. The role may require lifting, carrying, installing, or relocating typical computer equipment and working at desks, equipment rooms, or other office locations.

Because this position operates in a sensitive-data environment, the employee must follow all organizational security and confidentiality requirements. Employment may be subject to applicable background screening, confidentiality agreements, security training, and access-control requirements.

Success in This Role

Success in this position means providing timely and courteous support, maintaining dependable documentation, protecting sensitive information, proactively completing assigned work, and continuing to build technical knowledge while knowing when to escalate an issue.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
