As an IT Internal Control Lead, you will facilitate and manage the design, implementation, and monitoring of internal IT controls related to SAP and other critical systems and infrastructure. This role ensures our IT operations comply with SOX, data protection regulations, and internal governance frameworks. As a key liaison between IT and Finance, you will play a vital role in risk mitigation and the integrity of data through technology governance. This position can follow a hybrid schedule with semi-annual travel to the Home Office in Manchester, CT.

Control Design & Implementation

  • Design, implement, and maintain IT General Controls (ITGCs) and Application Controls
  • Formalize internal control documentation and testing procedures
  • Drive standardization of existing internal control processes

Monitoring & Testing

  • Perform testing of ITGC for operating effectiveness
  • Monitor SAP user access and segregation of duties and develop rulesets and monitoring programs
  • Document processes and sub-processes in the form of walkthroughs (in a format that allows them to be re-performed)
  • Support the IT change control process and be an active participant in new system implementations to ensure proper control design and effectiveness

Collaboration & Communication

  • Manage audit requests, facilitating and tracking successful response and maintaining status with external audit and internal control teams
  • Work proactively with the external auditors and business partners to provide value-add consultation to strengthen the operational effectiveness and reduce the relevant risks.
  • Create program communications, training, updates, and reference materials for team members and relevant business partners
  • Work with management and control owners to interpret the significance of control deficiencies or audit findings, conclude on findings, make practical recommendations, and verify that remediation plans are implemented

Governance & Documentation

  • Identify opportunities and implement (with the support from functional and technical team) ways to automate Internal Controls execution as well as their evaluation
  • This position will also execute on IT SOX compliance strategic objectives and help drive and mature the IT SOX compliance program over time
  • Monitor organizational changes or industry trends and recommends innovative solutions to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of SOX controls

Core Competencies & Expertise

  • 5+ years of IT controls auditing (Big 4), consulting, or implementation experience
  • Deep knowledge of SAP and Microsoft systems (SAP, MS Dynamics 365, Azure)
  • Experience auditing IT processes, infrastructure, and applications
  • Hands-on testing of ITGC (IT General Controls)
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to influence and drive alignment across departments
  • Strong attention to detail and quality

Preferred Competencies & Skills

  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience developing and testing ITGCs and audit test plans
  • Proven ability to automate internal control processes

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 5+ years of relevant IT controls and compliance experience
  • Demonstrated experience in SOX and IT or Digital Risk Assurance
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and project management skills
