Who we are
Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations™ Cloud, which is a platform that enables organizations that depend on physical operations to harness Internet of Things (IoT) data to develop actionable insights and improve their operations. At Samsara, we are helping improve the safety, efficiency and sustainability of the physical operations that power our global economy. Representing more than 40% of global GDP, these industries are the infrastructure of our planet, including agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing — and we are excited to help digitally transform their operations at scale.
Working at Samsara means you’ll help define the future of physical operations and be on a team that’s shaping an exciting array of product solutions, including Video-Based Safety, Vehicle Telematics, Apps and Driver Workflows, and Equipment Monitoring. As part of a recently public company, you’ll have the autonomy and support to make an impact as we build for the long term.
About the role:
Samsara's Core IT team builds the systems, processes, and experiences that let every team at Samsara do its best work. As Manager II, IT Engineering and DevOps, you'll lead the engineering team behind our internal integrations, automation, and AI-native workflows powering Core IT. You'll serve and support the other functions inside the organization, including the service organization, identity, and others, building the automation that eliminates manual toil, improves productivity, and delivers seamless experiences for Samsara employees. You'll set the technical roadmap for the team, ensuring velocity and throughput are high, leveraging resources across time zones.
This role will be eligible for remote work. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this role. The team spans US and India time zones, so meaningful daily overlap with India working hours is part of the job.
You should apply if:
- You want to impact the industries that run our world. Your work will have real-world impact: helping keep the lights on, get food into grocery stores, reduce emissions, and keep workers safe on the job.
- You want to lead engineers, not just review their pull requests. You'll set direction for the team building integrations, automation, and AI-native workflows, and be accountable for what they ship.
- You're energized by our opportunity: the vision we have to digitize large sectors of the global economy requires your full focus and best efforts to bring forth creative, ambitious ideas for our customers.
- You want to unify a team around a compelling strategy. The opportunities are clear, and you will help your team get organized, develop agile practices, and deliver outcomes swiftly.
- You want colleagues who make you better. You'll work alongside people who support each other's work, push each other to think more rigorously, and share the credit when something goes well.

In this role, you will:
- Own integrations, automation, and AI-native workflows across Core IT: the orchestration tooling, agentic workflows, and connections between systems that remove manual work company-wide.
- Build and maintain the automation that serves the other functions inside the organization, including the service organization, identity, and others, unlocking capacity for our technical teams.
- Evaluate and adopt new automation and AI tooling as it matures, with a point of view on where it belongs in the organization's systems and where it doesn't yet.
- Manage a team of engineers in the US and India, and grow the team's capabilities and skills as its mandate expands.
- Set technical direction and a shared roadmap for a team whose work has been split across more than one reporting line, and unify it under a single engineering strategy, with clearly defined metrics such as engineering capacity, throughput and velocity.
- Build the working rhythm a globally distributed engineering team needs to operate as one team rather than two: overlap hours, handoffs, and shared delivery across US and India time zones.
- Partner with ServiceOps and Business Operations leadership on where automation and self-service can retire manual work across the organization.
- Serve as the liaison between business stakeholders and the automation team, surfacing use cases, translating operational needs into technical requirements, and prioritizing what gets automated next.
- Champion, role model, and embed Samsara's cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.
Minimum requirements for the role:
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, or automation engineering, including 3+ years directly managing engineers.
- Experience managing a globally distributed engineering team across multiple time zones, including India.
- Hands-on experience with workflow automation and orchestration tooling (Selenium, Workato, or similar) and with building integrations across enterprise systems.
- A track record of setting technical direction and a shared roadmap for a team, not only running one that already has both in place.
- Proficient in Python/JavaScript, at a minimum, with the ability to read and review pull requests, evaluate architecture decisions firsthand, and guide developers at all stages of their career on CI/CD, TDD and GitHub best practices.
An ideal candidate has:
- Experience evaluating or deploying AI-driven or agentic automation tools in a production environment.
- Experience building integrations and automation that serve other teams' platforms and workflows, rather than owning a single platform end to end.
- Experience with ITSM and ticketing platforms (Zendesk, Jira) and the automation that reduces manual ticket handling.
- Experience building automations, integrations, and proactive monitoring & alerting on top of core SaaS and identity tooling such as Okta, Google Workspace, Atlassian (Jira/Confluence), and Slack.
- Experience with corporate security and compliance programs relevant to automation and integration work, including SOX, FedRAMP, GDPR, CCPA, or similar.
