Job Description Summary

The IT Assistant Director, Business Relationship Manager serves as a strategic liaison between business units and Information Technology, ensuring technology solutions align with organizational goals and operational needs. The role focuses on building strong stakeholder relationships, identifying opportunities for process improvement and innovation, managing technology initiatives, and partnering with business leaders to deliver solutions that drive efficiency and business value.

Job Description

Responsibilities

Business Relationship Management

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with business and technical partners.
  • Evaluate relationship health and business partner satisfaction to identify opportunities for increased value realization.
  • Drive continuous improvement of BRM practices and engagement approaches based on partner feedback and input.
  • Leverage experience, communication skills, and relationship building to become a trusted advisor to organizational leadership.
  • Work with and influence business partners up to the level of President and the C-Suite to formulate strategies and gain alignment on road maps for IT Services and Solutions that support their businesses.
  • Understand how technology creates value for the business.
  • Work collaboratively with partners to define and prioritise technology initiatives (new or enhanced services) that will bring the most business value.
  • Enable ideation to help the business achieve or exceed strategic business goals and objectives.
  • Identify ideas that create business value (increased revenue, lower costs, increased efficiency) for the organization.
  • Identify opportunities for using technology in new and innovative ways to bring value to the business and drive the business forward.
  • Leverage knowledge of the business, knowledge of the industry, and knowledge of leading-edge technological solutions to transform the way the business operates and provides services to its customers.

Collaborates and Communicates Effectively

  • Ensure that effective communication occurs with business partners and teams.
  • Manage expectations of multiple business partners.
  • Make effective connections between business and technical partners.
  • Serve as a conduit for conveying the strategy of business partners to IT leadership.

Service Delivery

  • Understand at a high level the services and technologies in use throughout the organization.
  • Work with business partners to plan and make sure they understand the relevance and impact of IT changes to their operations.
  • Define, agree to, and report on key service metrics.
  • Act as an escalation point for major issues with any aspect of service delivery.
  • Work with service owners to develop and monitor service improvement plans.
  • Act as a resource supporting planning between business and IT leadership for the construction of new services and gaining their approval by business leadership.

Demand Management

  • Shape demand for technology ideas in partnership with senior leadership in the organization.
  • Shepherd business partners and their ideas through the demand management process.
  • Facilitate the creation of business cases for ideas for presentation to senior leadership.
  • Foster alignment by providing transparency into the demand pipeline, including idea progression, prioritization, and decision outcomes.
  • Work with project managers and business partners to ensure idea requirements are well understood, documented, and approved by all partners.
  • Monitor and evaluate demand management metrics to identify trends, inform decision-making, and identify continuous improvement opportunities in the processes.

Knowledge of the Business

  • Understand the main business activities for each department.
  • Understand which technologies and IT services are required to complete each business activity.
  • Understand business processes and associated business activities for business teams within a department.
  • Understand the strategy and objectives for each business partner.

Advocate for Your Partners

  • Act as an advocate for all partners – be invested in success.
  • Understand the strategies and plans of partners and help develop an IT strategic plan/roadmap that maps to business strategies.
  • Help the business understand demand management governance processes.

Influence Business and Technology Partners

  • Influence business and Technology partners at multiple levels of the organization in order to help the business achieve their objectives.
  • Leverage existing relationships to move forward with business and technology ideas that will benefit the department and the organization as a whole.
  • Understand and solve issues and challenges such as differing agendas, political considerations, and resistance to change.

Knowledge of the Market

  • Understand the industry: trends, competition, and future direction.
  • Leverage what others are doing to bring innovative ideas to the organization.
  • Understand what business partners expect with regards to technologies and services and bring this intelligence to business leaders and decision makers.
Position Requirements

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

  • 3 - 5 years of Business Relationship Management.
  • 5+ years in role at Management Level in IT, program management, or relevant business domain.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant business or technology discipline.
  • A leader who has worked in a business-facing IT organization with demonstrated experience in partnering with business partners.
  • Experience collaborating with management at the level of Presidents and the C-Suite.
  • BRM certification desired.

  • Excellent understanding of one or more business areas and a comprehensive understanding of the IT organization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of core business processes and operations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of strategic use of technology to optimize business objectives.
  • Understand and able to communicate complex business requirements to the technology teams.
  • Understand and able to communicate technology fundamentals to business teams.
  • Able to communicate up and down the management chain, providing the appropriate message to the audience.
  • Ability to construct impactful business cases.

Salary Transparency

You will be joining a team of talented professionals motivated by serving the community and addressing the need for affordable housing.

Enterprise offers a comprehensive total rewards package for you and your family. The pay range for this position is $145,000 – $165,000. The salary range represents the low and high end of what may be paid for this position. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range, and compensation decisions may be influenced by a variety of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
