Location: Los Angeles, CA

As an Investment Analyst for both the USC & Techstars Accelerator and the Techstars Space Accelerator, you will be responsible for sourcing, recruiting, and helping to accelerate the growth of companies in which we invest. The Investment Analyst will be the first point of contact (and first set of eyes) on companies across multiple industries, evaluating their potential and fit for the Accelerator programs.

You’ll bring into the program an understanding and expertise in productivity tools and have a high attention to detail. In this role, you will be interacting with founders, partners, and investors before, during, and after the program. You may oversee the operations and logistics of the screening process for potential companies, the screening process for new mentors and the engagement process for alumni. You will engage deeply with both the Space ecosystem and the the broader USC community.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Identify, source, and enable screening of startups in support of the USC and Space program teams
  • Explore unique recruiting channels including online research, networking events, and referrals from our network
  • Conduct research to clarify market opportunities of potential companies in the pipeline
  • Plan, execute, and partner on events (both in person and virtual) throughout the year to prospect for potential investment opportunities
  • Manage the logistics of the founder application and onboarding process
  • Evaluate prospective companies in the pipeline on the basis of company fundamentals, market opportunity, and competitive landscape
  • Support companies in customer validation and providing research for all elements in the development of their financial models

Qualifications:

  • 2 - 4 years of experience 
  • Community-oriented with a proven track record building strong networks that support the startup community
  • Demonstrated experience preparing investor memos, reports, and/or presentation materials with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with a process and solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Experience working with datasets, pivot tables, and basic data analysis
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
  • Experience with recruiting, vetting or advising entrepreneurs is a plus.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), virtual data rooms, and investment platforms is a plus.
  • A genuine passion for technology and startups, an entrepreneurial mindset and a desire to learn
  • Prior startup experience, VC experience, or business development experience a plus
  • Prior experience in the Space, aerospace/defense, biosciences, or deep tech a plus (but not required)
  • Prior connection to the USC community preferred (but not required)
  • You are available to travel

Compensation: $75,000 - $90,000 + 10% Bonus
