Outer is a venture-backed startup based in Santa Monica, California on a mission to get people outside and inspire healthier, happier, and more fulfilling lives by creating innovative outdoor furniture.

We are looking for a Spring 2022 Lifecycle Marketing Intern to assist in strategizing, creating, testing, and optimizing email + SMS campaigns.

You will be responsible for ideating new creative concepts, creating detailed copy briefs, and providing email best practice feedback to designers before building and scheduling email campaigns within our email marketing platform (Klaviyo). You will monitor key metrics and hypothesize reasoning behind results.

You are self-motivated, eager to learn, flexible, responsible, and excited to be a key contributor to one of ​​Inc. Magazine’s, and BuiltInLA's “Best Workplaces.”

This position reports directly to the Associate Director of Lifecycle Marketing. This person will be expected to work between 10-20 hours per week, depending on the student's course load.

What You'll be Doing:

• Support production of email and SMS campaigns from ideation to execution
• Develop copy briefs and work closely with copywriters
• Monitor performance metrics and suggest actions to improve results
• Guide designers to develop email layouts and provide feedback along the way
• Be a constant learner and educator to the rest of the Lifecycle Marketing team

Expected Results:

• Consistent output of high-performing emails to convert recipients into customers and customers into repeat-purchasers
• Growth of Outer’s revenue and increased brand trust

Experience and Education:

• Working towards a degree in marketing, business, or related field
• Knowledge of the G-Suite and Microsoft Office suite (especially Spreadsheets/Excel)
• Experience using email marketing platforms (like Klaviyo), SMS marketing platforms, and Shopify a plus

• Ability to take an email from concept to inbox
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Organized, with high attention to detail and quality

Outer started by creating the perfect outdoor sofa: beautiful, durable, comfortable, and innovative. We also invented a new model for retail because we believe that the furniture buying experience can be much better than stale, traditional showrooms with four walls, fluorescent lighting, and pushy salespeople.
