About Revel

At Revel, we are revolutionizing the way the world’s most critical hardware is controlled—across aerospace, automotive, energy, and manufacturing sectors. Our next-generation software stack combines an intuitive command/control interface, a specialized programming language tailored for hardware control, and a high-performance runtime environment. We empower engineers to build, test, and deploy critical systems rapidly, reliably, and safely.

The Internship

As a Full Stack Software Engineering Intern at Revel, you’ll help build the software interfaces and services that engineers use to interact with complex, mission-critical hardware.

You’ll work closely with experienced software engineers and operators to build intuitive browser-based interfaces, contribute to backend services and APIs, and help develop new software from the ground up. You’ll have the opportunity to work across the stack and see how data moves from physical hardware through backend systems and into the applications engineers use every day.

This is a great opportunity for a student who enjoys building things, cares about creating great user experiences, and wants to deepen their understanding of how modern software systems work end-to-end.

What You'll Do
  • Build and improve browser-based user interfaces using modern web technologies

  • Develop features in React and TypeScript/JavaScript

  • Contribute to backend services and APIs that support frontend applications

  • Work across the stack to build reliable data flows between hardware, backend systems, and user interfaces

  • Collaborate with engineers and operators to understand real-world problems and turn them into intuitive software solutions

  • Contribute to greenfield projects and help build new products from the ground up

  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code

  • Debug issues across the frontend, backend, and underlying data systems

  • Participate in code reviews and collaborate with experienced software engineers

What We're Looking For
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field

  • Rising Junior or Senior graduating in 2027 or 2028

  • Experience building software through coursework, personal projects, research, or previous internships

  • Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and familiarity with React

  • Basic understanding of backend development, APIs, databases, or web services

  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills

  • Interest in learning how software systems work end-to-end

  • Strong attention to usability and user experience

  • Curious, self-directed, and excited to learn from experienced engineers

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • US citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee (ITAR requirement)

Bonus Points
  • Experience building a full-stack project from frontend through backend

  • Familiarity with modern web architecture and application data flow

  • Experience with frameworks or tools such as Next.js, Node.js, or similar technologies

  • Experience working with databases and SQL

  • Exposure to real-time, streaming, or event-driven data systems

  • Experience building applications that visualize or interact with live data

  • Interest in systems programming, infrastructure, performance, or developer tools

  • Experience with Python, Rust, C++, or other programming languages

  • Experience working on projects involving hardware, robotics, aerospace, automotive, or industrial systems

Why Revel
  • Build software that controls real hardware — create the interfaces engineers use to interact with complex physical systems

  • Work across the stack — gain experience building everything from frontend applications to backend services and data systems

  • Build from the ground up — contribute to greenfield projects rather than maintaining legacy software

  • Learn from exceptional engineers — work closely with experienced software engineers across the stack

  • Solve real-world problems — build software used by customers across aerospace, automotive, energy, and advanced manufacturing

  • Grow quickly — work in a small, ambitious team where your contributions are visible and your learning curve is steep

Internship Details
  • Program: Summer 2027 Internship

  • Duration: June - August 2027

  • Type: Summer, paid internship

  • Location: Los Angeles or San Francisco

  • Work environment: On-site

  • Travel: Occasional travel to customer sites may be required

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
