We are seeking an International Trade Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the importation of goods in compliance with international trade regulations. This role ensures timely and cost-effective movement of products across borders while maintaining adherence to customs laws, trade agreements, and company policies. The specialist serves as a key liaison between internal departments, customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies.
This position reports to the Trade Compliance Manager and is based out of Rantoul, IL or Irvine, CA.
As the International Trade Specialist, you will have an opportunity to:
Manage import compliance programs, including tariff classification (with emphasis on apparel), valuation, and country of origin determinations.
Demonstrate knowledge of Foreign Trade Zones (FTZs), including regulatory compliance and operational processes.
Ensure accurate and timely submission of customs declarations and related documentation.
Monitor changes in import regulations and recommend strategic adjustments to maintain compliance. Conduct internal audits and assessments of import activities to identify and mitigate risks.
Collaborate with customs brokers and government agencies to resolve compliance-related issues.
Manage the calculations for preferential duty treatment under Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP), ensuring strong internal controls (procedures, work instructions, forms, checklists, and tools).
Analyze transactions for potential risk and confirm that due diligence requirements are met.
Possess knowledge of U.S. Customs programs such as Reconciliation and Duty Drawback.
Identify, evaluate, and implement duty mitigation opportunities and programs.
Support additional tasks as needed to maintain an effective international trade compliance program.
You have:
Licensed Customs Broker (LCB)
Bachelor’s degree in international business, Logistics, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in global trade compliance, with a strong focus on import operations.
Export experience is a plus.
Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to research transactions and generate reports using ERP systems and the ACE Portal.
Familiarity with government systems such as DECCS, and SNAP-R.

Pay Range:
$63,000.00 - $102,300.00The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
