Summary of Role:
At GHJ, our Tax Practice is comprised of over 100 professionals, the majority of whom have post-graduate degrees in tax, law or business and have previously worked with “Big Four” accounting firms. Our dedicated tax team is specifically trained in dealing with complex tax issues for privately held businesses, including federal, state and local tax strategies, tax credit maximization, estate planning and international matters. We work with our clients to find appropriate solutions to maximize tax benefits and savings, providing sophisticated advice tailored for each client. We also provide our clients with the added bonus of having access to tax and industry resources that highlight emerging trends and inspire thoughtful discussions amongst peers and industry leaders through our events, blogs and publications. You will be responsible for:
- Organizing and coordinating clients’ tax data for the accurate and timely completion of tax returns.
- Reviewing tax information submitted by clients for completeness and contacting them with questions.
- Possessing knowledge of tax rules and regulations to answer clients’ questions.
- Preparing various complex tax returns, including individual (specifically 1040NR), corporate (specifically 1120F),
- Preparing and reviewing U.S. international tax-related forms such as Forms 5471, 8865, 8858, FBAR, 1120-F, 5472, and the 1042 and W-8BEN series.
- Preparing amended returns of any variety and complexity.
- Responding to tax notices and drafting required letters.
- Performing international tax research projects.
- Completing "Check-the-Box" elections and requests for accounting changes as required.
- Supporting international tax planning and preparing tax models illustrating multinational entity attributes, effective tax rates, and cash tax expenses.
- Demonstrating an understanding of complex international tax concepts and effectively applying this knowledge to client situations.
- Supervising and training tax associates.
- Working with and keeping confidential client matters.
What we need from you:
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills, with the ability to generate "out of the box" ideas.
- Strong Excel, Word, and Outlook proficiency.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Able to communicate effectively with the team and clients.
What skills & experience you’ll bring to us:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related equivalent.
- 3-5 years of experience preparing individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns, with International Tax Compliance experience preferred.
- Experience with tax software applications, including computerized tax preparation, tax planning, and tax research software.
- Either hold a current and valid certified public accountant's license or be working toward obtaining the license by taking and passing the applicable state CPA exam.
- Experience responding to notices from the IRS and other reporting agencies.
- Ability to compute quarterly estimates and other computations as needed.
- Ability to operate a computer, calculator, and other general office equipment.
Working Conditions:
- Overtime work may be required from time to time throughout the year, which may exceed 55 hours per week.
- Occasional same-day travel for meetings with clients or to attend seminars.

GHJ complies with all local/state regulations in regards to displaying salary ranges. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, ranges, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications (e.g. JD, technology), for example. At GHJ, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is: $80,000 - $100,000.
