Our internship program is designed for students currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, as well as individuals seeking to deepen their education through immersive, professional experience in the entertainment industry. 

 

Department Description: 

The Marketing Analytics & Insights team is at the fast-moving intersection of film marketing strategy, shifting consumer behaviors, and big data / predictive modeling. The team supplies tools, data and insights that fuel data-informed decision making around audience & creative marketing strategies in support of theatrical films. Team goals include adapting predictive models for the quickly changing marketplace, enhancing film recommender engines, and identifying new ways of guiding film greenlighting and early decision making. The ideal candidate joins a growing team of Data Scientists that collaborates with Analytics, Research, and Marketing colleagues to support tools, predictive models and technology that fuel the department. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Exploratory analysis: Design and conduct analyses of content and audience data as guided by business needs to help ascertain potential for further research & development.  

  • Prototype development: Develop and validate early iterations of data products to be further polished and productionized in collaboration with internal and cross-team stakeholders.  

  • ETL / feature engineering support: Assist data scientists in analyzing, processing, and transforming data for use as input features in models.  

  • Data product / model / process & documentation support: Help maintain and update existing data products and documentation. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Pursuing a Masters or PhD degree in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Statistics, Human-Computer Interaction, Economics, Computational Social Science, or similarly relevant quantitative domain.  

  • Undergraduate degree in quantitative domain listed above or in fields related to the entertainment/media industry (film, business, communication, media studies, marketing, and similar). 

  •  Minimum 1-2 years of work experience, preferably in entertainment, marketing, tech, research, and/or consumer insights.  

  • Experience with Python (Pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, JupyterLab, etc.) and SQL 

  • Knowledge of regression, classification, feature selection, clustering, cross-validation, vector distance/similarity, data preprocessing, data transformation, and data visualization.  

  • Self-starter, excels in proactively seeking out resources and guidance to combine with own expertise to develop data products optimally fitting stakeholder needs. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with LLM application development 

  • Experience with AWS (S3, Sagemaker Studio, Model Registry, EC2, etc.) 

  • Experience with Docker 

  • Experience with Git / Github 

  • Experience with code refactoring 

  • Entertainment industry experience / domain knowledge 

  • Passion for movies is a major plus! 

The anticipated base salary for this position is $37/hour. This role may also qualify for comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
