The Opportunity:We are seeking an Intercompany Accountant to support the accounting and reporting of our global subsidiaries. This role will focus on intercompany transactions, international compliance, and month-end close activities, ensuring that all subsidiaries follow US GAAP, NSAR requirements, and relevant local regulations.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working with both internal teams and external advisors. This position provides an opportunity to gain exposure to global accounting practices and play a key role in supporting the company’s international expansion.
Responsibilities:Subsidiary Support & Compliance
Partner with subsidiaries across multiple regions to ensure adherence to US GAAP and local statutory requirements.
Review and validate subsidiary-prepared reports, schedules, and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Assist subsidiaries in meeting reporting deadlines and resolving accounting or compliance-related issues.
Support external auditors during statutory audits by providing required schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
Research and summarize local accounting requirements for new countries, ensuring proper setup of accounting policies and processes for new entities.
Help subsidiaries align their internal controls and processes with the company’s corporate policies and US GAAP standards.
Intercompany Accounting & Month-End Close
Prepare intercompany journal entries and intercompany invoice for cross-border charges, allocations, and settlements.
Perform monthly intercompany reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding issues with counterparties.
Ensure proper elimination of intercompany transactions during the consolidation process.
Collaborate with finance and operations teams to confirm intercompany service agreements and transaction flows are correctly captured in the accounting system.
Perform balance sheet and income statement reviews for subsidiaries to ensure results are accurate and compliant.
Assist in maintaining and updating intercompany agreements and documenting transaction flows.
Transfer Pricing & Tax Support
Assist in transfer pricing (TP) studies by gathering and validating intercompany financial data.
Support tax and legal teams in preparing documentation for intercompany cost allocations and cross-border service charges.
Ensure intercompany transactions are recorded in compliance with the company’s global transfer pricing policies.
Participate in periodic reviews of transfer pricing arrangements and help implement necessary adjustments.
Reporting & Analysis
Consolidate international subsidiary schedules into the company’s global reporting package.
Support preparation of NSAR reporting, management reporting, and other regulatory submissions.
Prepare variance analyses, intercompany reporting packages, and account reconciliations for internal and external stakeholders.
Assist with ad-hoc analysis to evaluate subsidiary performance and financial results.
Maintain detailed documentation for all reconciliations, journal entries, and schedules in compliance with internal controls.
Process Improvement & Cross-Functional Support
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency in intercompany and international reporting processes.
Assist in implementing standardized procedures across subsidiaries to ensure consistent accounting practices.
Collaborate with IT, finance, and operations to improve systems and automation for intercompany transactions and reporting.
Participate in global projects, including ERP system enhancements, entity setups, and integration of new subsidiaries.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
Familiarity with transfer pricing concepts and intercompany agreements.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across cultures and time zones.
Proficient in manipulating large volumes of data within complex entity structures.
Demonstrated expertise in accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
Strong understanding of US GAAP and FASB codification and pronouncements.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
Track record of successfully building cross-functional relationships across the organization.
Experience with ERP systems, NetSuite experience is a plus.
Self-motivated and driven, with a proactive "get it done" attitude.
Positive, innovative, and a team player with exceptional organizational and communication skills.
Attentive to detail and accuracy while keeping the broader financial picture in mind.
Capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal guidance in a fast-paced environment.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, including pivot tables, vlookup, and data analysis.
Self-starter, capable of working independently.
