The RoleWe are seeking an Integration Engineer with a strong DICOM focus to join our growing team. You will be responsible for implementing, troubleshooting, and supporting integrations between Lantern PACS, customer imaging environments, and third-party clinical systems. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of healthcare IT, imaging informatics, and hands-on technical problem solving.
You’ll work closely with radiologists, PACS administrators, and our product and engineering teams to ensure that studies, reports, and workflows flow reliably and securely across systems.
ResponsibilitiesLead DICOM integration projects with hospitals, radiology groups, and imaging vendors (C-Store, C-Find, C-Move, Modality Worklist, Structured Reports, etc.).
Configure, test, and maintain HL7 message flows (ORM, ORU, ADT) to synchronize orders and results.
Troubleshoot interoperability issues across RIS, PACS, VNA, modalities, and Lantern systems.
Document integration designs, test cases, and conformance workflows.
Partner with customer IT and clinical teams to ensure secure, HIPAA-compliant deployments.
Provide Tier 2/3 support for complex integration escalations.
Collaborate with engineering to build reusable connectors, APIs, and monitoring tools.
Must-Have:
3+ years of experience with DICOM networking and storage protocols (including C-Store, C-Move, MWL, SR).
Hands-on experience with HL7 v2.x messages (ORM, ORU, ADT).
Strong troubleshooting skills using DICOM/HL7 tools (DVTk, Wireshark, HL7 analyzers).
Familiarity with PACS, RIS, EMR, and VNA architectures.
Excellent communication skills for working with customer IT/radiology staff.
Nice-to-Have:
Experience with DCM4CHEE or other open-source PACS/VNA systems.
Experience with Mirth/NextGen Connect for HL7/DICOM routing and transformations.
Scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation and integration tasks.
Knowledge of FHIR, IHE profiles, and medical device interoperability standards.
Prior experience with cloud-based imaging or AI integrations.
SOC-2/HIPAA compliance awareness.
