Your Role at MediaLab

MediaLab is a media and technology company focused on acquiring and growing social, messaging, and entertainment properties. Since our founding in 2018, we’ve built an impressive portfolio of apps and websites, including Genius, Imgur, WorldStarHipHop, and more.

MediaLab is seeking an Integrated Marketing Strategist to lead the development, writing, and management of integrated marketing proposals for a variety of advertising partners. In this role, you will bring innovative ideas to life and guide branded content programs from initial brainstorming to final pitch.

With a primary focus on Genius and Imgur, you will take full ownership of the RFP process—from concept development to delivery—creating best-in-class proposals that drive results for our brand partners.

What You’ll Do

  • Interpret client briefs and collaborate with internal teams to develop strategic RFP response strategies tailored to various clients and categories.
  • Lead brainstorming sessions, proposal development, and final presentations of creative, innovative solutions.
  • Serve as a senior member of the Marketing team, acting as a go-to resource for addressing client feedback and guiding other Strategists on their proposal work.
  • Proactively identify and develop new opportunities and go-to-market packages aligned with cultural tentpoles and key initiatives throughout the year.
  • Help manage the Integrated Marketing workflow system while effectively communicating with cross-functional teams throughout the RFP pitch process.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and market dynamics, bringing valuable insights to the team to inform and elevate future integrated marketing efforts.
  • Build and nurture strong partnerships across the organization, collaborating with teams such as Social, Product, Account Management, Community, and Design.
  • Demonstrate expertise in managing multiple projects simultaneously and excelling under tight deadlines.

What We’re Searching for

  • 3-5 years of relevant integrated marketing experience, preferably in a role focused on responding to RFPs at a media company or entertainment property.
  • Proven experience leading the pre-sales RFP process, including organizing and facilitating creative brainstorms, building compelling decks, and collaborating across multiple departments such as Direct Sales, Content, Social, and Product.
  • Expertise in developing large branded content programs, including custom video, editorial, tech integrations, and experiential activations. Cross-vertical experience is essential.
  • Foundational knowledge of our portfolio’s core audience and an understanding of how to engage them through diverse topics in music, entertainment, and internet culture trends.
  • A self-motivated independent thinker with exceptional communication and problem-solving skills who can be an integral part of the process.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of branded content trends, with the ability to introduce innovative formats and ideas to the team.
  • Experience in music, internet culture, or fashion is a plus.
  • Proficient in Google Slides, Keynote, and/or PowerPoint.
  • Flexible and open to remote locations.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred in Marketing or a related field.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
